#146Out of curiosity, if you have to give these card companies your SS number how is it any more anonymous than selling your BTC through an exchange or BTC ATM and then depositing into your every day checking account? Or is the only benefit of these cards to skip the middle step? Just curious as to what the attraction to these cards is.Comment -

#147Of course it's not anonymous at all. But the benefit of it is you can load your card in minutes and have access to cash much quicker than waiting a day or 2 for it to hit your bank account from the exchanges. I have no bitcoin atms any where near me. I like to get my money quick. Some people don't mind waiting, but not me.Originally posted by kj8210Out of curiosity, if you have to give these card companies your SS number how is it any more anonymous than selling your BTC through an exchange or BTC ATM and then depositing into your every day checking account? #148Gotcha. Also when you load the card does it sell the BTC instantly and load your card with USD or is it whenever its swiped, it sells the BTC and then uses the cash for the transaction? Because if its the latter doesn't that mean that the amount of money you'll have on that card will vary from day to day as the price of BTC fluctuates?Originally posted by themike78Of course it's not anonymous at all. #151It doesn't. All funds on card are in U.S dollars. Whenever you put money on card they go by what the bitcoin rate is at the time. #161I've been using this card for the last couple weeks, and I don't think you can transfer money to external accounts. ATM fee is $2.5 and Bitpay charges another $2.00, so in my area, the fee for withdrawing $400(max for one transaction) is $4.50. I don't have to pay fee for cash back at cashier, but max I could get each time is $50.00Comment -

#168If you go to a walmart at the money center area where they do money transfers you can get up to $1000 off of prepaid cards for $4 fee. I am sure it would work with bitpay card. I haven't had enough money on mine to try but it's a pretty good deal rather than doing multiple transactions and paying multiple fees.Originally posted by tb1984I've been using this card for the last couple weeks, and I don't think you can transfer money to external accounts. #169well i got the card today and it works fine. but the atm fee is $3.00 and $2.00 for bitpay so total $5.00. not bad but if you want to withdraw more than $750. it's gonna cost you another $5. it's a good backup to have for those emergency situations though.
also, when you withdraw, use the checking option. i kept picking credit card and it kept denying my transaction.Comment -

#174Wonder if anyone will run into this problem... I was just reviewing some of the fees:
Dormancy Fee $5.00 - For each month following a 90 day period of inactivity until the card is used again.
Here is what they claim to do to avoid the fee. "Use your card at any participating ATM anywhere VSA is accepted at least every 90 days."
Ok... it clearly says use at the ATM to avoid the $5.00 fee. Could you just pay a bill or go out to eat and use your card once rather than going to an ATM? I was actually just going to use this card to pay common monthly bills etc.Comment -
