You said the C word The Celtics are my teams (76ers) arch rivals. Unfortunately, they haven't been good enough to rival anything for years. I hear ya, I could never change the American teams I root for.. I have too many years invested in them I won't be changing with the Spurs either. "Tottenham till I die" as they say. If I was going to change, it would have been last year. First year I support them, they get off to their worst start in a 100 years I'm planning a trip to go to WHL before they build the new stadium. It will be my first match other than the MLS.. I'm locked in now.

I have absolutely no idea why the NFL is called football. All I can think of is... when it started, there wasn't as much throwing of the ball. So, most games were about running and kicking field goals. Still, I'm not even sure that makes sense I couldn't agree more though, it seems really silly now that I watch both. It never even crossed my mind before I started watching real football though. American football is way too popular here though, it's never gonna change now. I recently bought a shirt with a football/soccer ball on it... it has the word football under it.. I'm doing my part

i thought lakers were celtics's arch rivals...and regarding soccer's popularity in USA, i've read in a local paper that david beckam was rejected from playing his own role in simpsons, as he isnt that well known in USA...
anyway, i think that rivalries in european sport are bigger than those from America...and if you wanna go to white hart lane, its a noble thought of you, i dont have money to go to anfield (im from romania) but i think that 2011 i'll do a eurotrip

well, they are.. but the Celtics are my teams rivals. The Lakers vs Celtics rivalry is because in the 60's and 80's they met several times to decide the championship. My team, the 76ers were eliminated by the Celtics in order to get there a few times Both teams also had some of the best players in league history at the same time. 60's, Celtics - Bill Russell, 76ers - Wilt Chamberlain.. 80's, Celtics - Larry Bird 76ers - Dr. J. the 76ers and Celtics play each other more often because they are in the same conference and the cities are much closer. When the 76ers were good, it was probably the second biggest rivalry in the league. One of my teams players also had the nickname "the boston strangler" because of his performances against the Celtics.

I don't doubt the european rivalries are more intense. That's of the things I love about football... the supporters are so passionate. Anfield huh.. looks like that match tomorrow was postponed. I travel often for work. So, airfare and accommodations will be cheaper for the trip. Now getting tickets.. that's another matter

I didn't hear that about Beckham. It doesn't surprise me though. If you stopped 10 random americans on the street and asked them to name any club he played for.. I bet maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 could name any... and he has been playing here. His own clubs supporters boo him reguarly.. that's never good.

                        Fiorentina - Bari
                        fiorentina -0.75 @ 1.94 (pinnacle)

The fight for the 4th place in italian league continues, and it's getting tougher with every weekend. After AS Roma managed to win against Chievo, 1-0, scoring one of the fastest goals of the season (in the 47th second), AS Roma regained, at least for 24 hours, the so much precious 4th place. Fiorentina is one of the big teams that are fighting, with real chances for this position. Fiorentina started excellent 2010, winning the derby of their region , Toscana, 5-1, against Siena (the very same team that struggled and tortured Internatzionale Milano yesterday; Inter only managed to score a very late winner in the 88th miute, 4-3 the final score). Fiorentina winning 5-1 at Siena becomes, suddenly, a greater succes than it was received on wednesday.
Fiorentina is, with no doubt a very high quality italian football club; eliminating Liverpool from Uefa Champions League, even in their worst year from the last 5, ain't something that anyone can actually do. But Fiorentina did, and it all began when the italians won, 2-0, at home, against the great Liverpool (two goals from their super striker, Alberto Gilardino). At home, in Serie A, Fiorentina did well, so far, winning 5 matches, losing 2 and ending another match undeceided. Their latest victorym which i told you about, 5-1 at Siena, tells all about Fiorentina's offense at the time. GIlardino scored twice, and Adrian mutu, the romanian forward, scored one and had 2 assists.
Bari was mediocre on road, so far, winning 1, finishing 4 matches in ties, and losing 3 times. The odd for Fiorentina is unexpectedly high, so I'm not going to let it get away. I think Fiorentina can easily win by 2 goals this afternoon.

                          Juventus - AC Milan
                          over 2.5 @ 2.12 (5dimes)

The first huge football match of 2010 is without doubts this one, Juventus Torino - AC Milan. It's one of the biggest derby in football, worldwide, and one of the most followed match on Earth. And now, that the two teams are table neighbours, this match is even more promissing than it usually is.
AC Milan rebirth like the phoenix bird, right in the middle of the first season's part. After a terrbile start, the rossonerri began to advance fast in table winning lot of important points. At the end of September, the overall situation was disastrous for them : somewhere in the second half of the table, losing at home in Uefa Champions League against the weakest team from the group and expecting tough matches, like the double against Real Madrid. However, since then, Milan won 8/10 Serie A matches, being the best in the last 10. They also finished 2nd in Uefa Champions League group C.
The main reason why this transformation occured was the appetite for scoring goals brought by brasilian coach and former brasilian international, Leonardo. And it does not take too much imagination to understand that when you have players like Pato, Ronaldinho, Huntelaar and Borriello, you should not play defensevely. Over the years, Milan became well known for the fantastic organization of their gameplay. But times are different now, and one needs to adapt quickly. That's what AC Milan has done.
Juventus Torino, another italian giant team, started the reconstruction after the Calciopolli scandal in 2006. After promoting back in Serie A, Juventus quickly regained their teritorry, and they now are 3rd, being more powerful year after year. Juventus ended 2009 awful, however : losing important points in Serie A after being eliminated from the Uefa Champions League group A by Bayern Munchen. The bianconerri started well 2010, winning a tough match against a fairly good team, AC Parma, 2-1, on road. Today, they play the match of the day with their archrivals, AC Milan.
Years ago, this match used to be sentenced to end at most 1-0 for one of the teams. We all remember that Uefa Champions League final, in 2003, played right between Milan and Juve, which ended 0-0, and was deceided on penalties. Some say it was the most boring UCL final ever. But 2003 is almost 7 years ago and ever since, so many things are no longer the same. Tha's why I think that over 2.5 has a great value tonight, especially since 2 of the last 3 games between Juve and Milan finished 3-2 and 4-2, and both were played in Olimpico, from Torino.

Take Wolves (+0.5) Mr. Haita. I don't know about Milan and Juventus, but I'm pretty sure I like the under a bit more.

I think it's a good play. As I'm sure you know.. the last two games were over. They have only played one quarter in the last 8 that wasn't 50 or over (49). C Bosh is hot and put up more points in their previous game w/o Garnett like this will be. Both teams have gone over that number 4 out of their last 5. Boston didn't have a good shooting game last game.. you gotta think they bounce back and shoot better this one. That's good considering Ray Allen has put up good numbers against the Raps.
