Tracer, if you're offended by something, report the post. If I started a thread and asked everyone I've infracted or temporarily banned for making racist or homophobic remarks to check in, you'd see 300+ people in there, if not more.
However: When posts are reported, the entire conversation and history between the two posters is looked at. If two people have been going at it and one thinks it's a matter of who reports first, that's not how it works. Offensive words will be removed but either you'll both get an infraction/temp banned or neither of you will. However if someone is just trolling and being hateful, then yes it's dealt with. We're not perfect and we can't keep up with every post in real time but we absolutely try our best and also hope that posters will let us know when things are getting nasty.
