As of late afternoon, there were over 170 million of the 175 million combinations played.

From what I know, New Hampshire has sold over $3 million for tonight's draw, and Vermont has sold over $1 million. Larger states will have sold several times those amounts.

Draw coverage for tonight's draw is around 90%, possibly slightly higher, which means there is a 90% or greater chance that there will be a jackpot winner.

If the 5dimes juice doesn't scare you, play that there WILL be a winner.

I'll also put it this way. IF there is not a winner tonight, Tuesday's jackpot will start at approximately 975 million.

so with odds of winning at 1 in 175 million, it would be very +EV to buy a ticket for every combination, you would be guaranteed to win the jackpot

but you risk having to split the jackpot with others, making it a risky proposition for someone to go out of there way to do this... but if you think about it, you would be also be guaranteed to win the $250,000 prize 45 or 46 times right? (You get that if you get 5 numbers right and not the bonus ball) You get $2 just for getting the bonus ball, which if you bought every combination has to get you like millions just from winning the $2 so many times... same with the $3 prize, $7, $10, $150 and $10,000 prizes.

So assuming your crazy enough to pull buy every combination of tickets for this drawing, how many people would you have to split the prize with for this to become -EV?

Basically, how much money do you win if you purchase every single ticket combination except the grand prize combination? I imagine that its got to be pretty substantial, anyone know or care to calculate this?

I would imagine if you got every combination but the winner you would still be -EV, getting all of the $250,000 winners would only put you at 11M, at that point you're still stuck -165M. Splitting it even 1 time, which after taxes will be roughly 200M (read several articles stating 55% goes to federal taxes) and you're down to $100M in winnings, there won't be enough with the 111M that you've won in the big wins to have a chance of even breaking even with all of the $2 wins and whatnot.

The numbers 1,2 will not hit tonight. I am expecting the lowest number to be in the teens somewhere as a single digit was picked three time in a row the last three Mega Millions drawings and it rarely gets picked 4x in a row. Also love the numbers 16, 36, 38 and 44. Thses numbers have been picked the most times this year so far.
