Villa is probably out for the final and Spain will be playing 4-5-1 with Fabregas in the midfield. This system was used by Spain in qualifiers with great success. There are too many holes in the German defensive positions to seriously consider any bets for them. Turkey pulled that team apart with 18 attempts on goal and 12 saves.

The second bet is to raise the cup; it cashes with a regular time win, overtime win, or penalty shootout.Comment -

#296Spain won the final in 64, then lost in 1984. Never been in the world cup finals..so cant say they are experienced in this situation. I agree with Pavy, they look really strong, but for some reason..I stick to Germany.Comment -

Germany have a good claim to being the most celebrated football nation in the world. True, Brazil and Italy both have won more world cups with five and four respectively, but overall the Germans' record in the World Cup reads as finalists seven times and winner on three occasions. But, it is in the European Championship where Germans have reigned supreme.
And dont forget Germany was not Germany until 1990.

#298You are right Pavy. In fact not too long ago the Germans lost another Final which was EURO 1992. Denmark had caused an upset by beating Germany 2-0 in the Final.Originally posted by pavyracerGermany lost the 1966 WC, 1976 Euro, 1982 WC, 1986 WC, 2002 WC finals.
Germany has actually lost more finals than won, not what you want to call a banker.
Most people had thought Denmark were just making up the numbers in EURO 1992 cause they had only replaced Yugoslavia at the 11th hour. Yugoslavia were thrown out of EURO 1992 by UEFA due to the Balkan War.
Most people still think Greece (winner EURO 2004) were the Cinderella team in the history of the EUROs but if you ask me, I think Denmark were the real Cinderella team because they were not prepared for EURO 1992 (having been called up to replace Yugoslavia just before the start of the tournament) and also they had played attacking football unlike Greece who played very defensive negative football in EURO 2004.
I have not placed my bet for this Final but I would prefer Spain to win it cause I love teams that have some flair and play touch football like what the Spanish do.
As for the Asian Handicapping (AH) line for the Final of the previous EUROs, just to let you guys know that the favourites have not covered the spead since France beat Spain 2-0 in EURO 1984. For the Final of EURO 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004, if you had taken the underdog for the Asian line (meaning +0/+0.5, +0.5, +0.5/+1, etc.), you would have won in all those Finals.
Cheers and GL to everybody !!!Comment -

#305Pavy I am following you on this one and taking Spain, how much do you think it will effect Germany with out Ballack?Comment -
pavyracerSBR Aristocracy
- 04-12-07

#306If Ballack doesn't play and with Torsten Frings playing with a broken rib and Simon Rolfes playing with stiches after gashing his head in Turkey game it leaves Bastian Schweinsteiger, which is their best goal thread from midfield, to be playing as a defensive midfielder. The Spain midfield which runs relentelsly and is highly skilled in short passes and crafty dribbling will force the tall and slow german midfield into lot's of fouls and possibly a yellow or red card from Schweinsteger who lost his cool against Croatia and was send off. There is a very big disparity at the midfield talent between these two teams and with Spain playing 4-5-1 with five midfielders I believe they will win the midfield battle and by 2nd half they will disect the German defenses which they will collapse worse than V-Day on Normandy beaches.Originally posted by gordon gekkoPavy I am following you on this one and taking Spain, how much do you think it will effect Germany with out Ballack?Comment -
