the funny thing is they have had almost everything go wrong this season (except the beast bautista)

            and they are still .500

morrow missed the first part of the season
snider (the future) horrible start got sent down
davis missed like 15 games (steals pretty much everytime he's on base)
bautista missed 20% of the season so far
cecil lost his velocity now in AAA (15 game winner last year)
            fransisco missed like 3+ weeks
            hill hurt again
lind was on fire now he's missed almost 2 weeks

thats all i can think of right now

but mabey they can make some noise when healthy

And yet they were -140 on the road against a good Cards squad. I know Lee is pitching but seems like the books like the Phillies tonight.

who is still sitting on top of the standings since your such a smart guy beerman? same team that is sitting there every october right? werent you making these same retarded comments last may? this team was without 4 of their top 5 hitters tonight. Take the top four out of the cards lineup tonight it would have been a battle to score 2 runs first haha

Same team sitting on top of standings every October the Phillies since when son? How many division championships did the Braves win in a row son? Good god Dlunc lets not get carried away about the Phillies. Yeah have had a decent run recently but the Braves have owned the Phillies for alot of years kid.

are we talking about the 90's? or recent history? And please dont say slight advantage phillies in pitching--lets not get carried away after a month and a half of good pitching by the braves. In a 7 game series, 1-4 any baseball mind would take the phills pitcher over the braves.. pretty sure 4 out of 4 is more then a slight advantage. With a big game on the line, this young braves pitchers cant really compare quite yet to the veteran experienced arms on the phills.. in a few years from now you might be right, but right now after a month and a half, dont try to say its close. Where the bats are concerned, phills are better at the 1 spot, 2 spot is close, we'll give it to braves though, 3 spot, 4 spot, 5 spot is close again, but we'll say braves. and then 6-8 ill say braves right now, but with dom brown coming in (who if you remember- better prospect then heyward) and mayberrry now in the lineup with ruiz at 8, it is pretty close. So dont get too carried away ok? When healthy, bastardo, madson and lidge/contaras are good enough to get the job done. Phills havent blown a lead after leading in the 9th all year (but I wont judge after a month and a half of baseball like you), but yes, I will give the braves the advantage. And braves definately have the better bench.

So, what we have is-- phills have superior starting pitching and superior top of the order in the lineup. Braves have (for now) better back of the order, bull pen and bench.. Pretty sure id take the starting pitching and top of the order to go along with the postseason experience

Phillies fans are definitely worse. Obviously your not going to admit your fans are right down there with Yankees fans because your bias. Yes, Sox fans are bad but not nearly as bad as Philly.

Trust me, I've been to enough games in Fenway Park and Citizens Bank/The Vet to be able to compare. Phillies fans are definitely worse. Obviously your not going to admit your fans are right down there with Yankees fans because your bias. Yes, Sox fans are bad but not nearly as bad as Philly.

Brown was #1 on the 2010 list. And heyward was #1 on the 09 list. I'm not saying he will be better.. I only hope he is as good as heyward.. but he should be considered at least a threat (not Ben fransisco like you are seeing now) since they were similar coming in.

Granted, we have some injuries to the lineup but even when everyone is healthy, they are all getting older and declining. This is all that is being talked about on sports radio, some are ready to admit it but I think it will take a few more weeks of this for everyone to realize it.

Having said that, come Playoff time, I do like our chances in a 5 and 7 game series. (That's if we make the Playoffs, if we keep playing like we are it will be tough but I do think we'll turn it around) I do think we'll make a move by the trade deadline to pick up a bat and hope that helps enough to turn it around.

As far as Phillies fans vs. Red Sox fans... this isn't even a fair question. For years, Phillies fans weren't even at the games, those that were at the stadium were families who wouldn't dare go to an Eagles game because their kid might get a beer spilled on them. Flyers games are too expensive so they're filled with a bunch of suits. Sixers games were cool but once AI and Pat Croce left, who cares. This left the Phillies games, most fans were and still are families... especially since the new stadium. So I strongly disagree, Red Sox fans are much worse... that silly accent is enough to drive you insane!!
