Yes it is.
I have been playing Beat The Streak for over five years.
The numbers they put out there are nonsense numbers. They know no one is getting it.
No one has ever even gotten close, and this game has been going on for a long time.
They put up "millions of dollars" as the "grand prize" every year, because they treat it like those bracket contests, which have a grand prize of millions of dollars. The grand prize is basically unattainable. The odds against you are staggering.

The top streak for the year wins $10,000 and they give out a monthly prize. $500 gift card to mlb.com, mlb.tv subscription, and I think a jersey.
Bottom line is that you should not spend a lot of time thinking about this game. I don't, unless I get a pretty good streak going.
If anyone really thinks someone getting a 57 game streak has a decent chance, I'll offer 20/1 odds.
I'll put up 1000 points and you put up 50. Settle up after the season.

Been playing this game forever too. I think the original prize was a million. I've gotten to 21 and 19 before and I play every day. I think I saw some 46's over the years.
Yis. Have you seen the HR streak or survivor yet on MLB. Looks like they are gone.

Survivor streak 800 times harder than Dimaggio streak and it only paid 10k that one is a waste of time.

Yeah, I believe the high was in the low 40s.
Yeah it was previously a million before last year. Last year they upped it big time (I think it was increasing each month if no one got it) and also this year. They might as well.

HR will be back. Survivor, I'm not sure.
The same thing happened last year. BTS started right away and the others were delayed.
BTS HR edition I actually did ok on. I got two different streaks of 3. Not that close to winning the prize, but pretty difficult.

Not at all. Less people played it. I think Survivor was a better use of time than BTS, honestly.
Anyway, you want to bet?
20/1 that anyone gets 57 this year, max bet of 50 points.
500/1 that you get it this year, max bet of 2 points. It'd pale in comparison to the $5.6 million, but hey, 1,000 points is nothing to sneeze at.

OK, more info on previous years:
In 2006 and 2007, the grand prize was only a 100K, and you had to get to 57. Wow. They later upped it to a million (beginning in 2008). Then last year they upped it from there.
Home Run Beat the Streak began in 2007.
Originally, it was easier to pick, but in 2008 they changed the doubleheader rule. Previously, any hit extended the streak, so you'd always want to pick a guy in a doubleheader. Then, they made it they have to hit in each game, meaning you should never pick a guy in a doubleheader.

Yeah, I was asking rm. He thinks the game is easy, evidently.
I have won something from mlb.com, actually. Postseason trivia. They give entries into a raffle for each answer you get correct on the daily trivia during the playoffs, and I won the drawing at the end of 2009. Prize wasn't great, though. Opening Day tickets to any team. I couldn't go opening day, so they agreed to give me a different date, and offered me Mets/Yankees Sunday Night Baseball as one of my options. Naturally, I took that.

Yeah , worth a shot but not likely , if you dont play , there`s no chance
it takes discipline to do it everyday
same as pitching a perfect game in mlb2k11 , got thru 12 batters but 27 in a row ...

Make sure to select a jump start player. Hover over pick and it's a drop down.

This contest has "conflict of interest" all over it. Who would enter a contest that is owned by the same company that owns the league? Nothing prevents MLB from contacting a particular player on a particular day and telling them not to have a hit.

Exactly. If someone was 56 straight and needed 1 more MLB could easily tell a-rod for example to not get a hit and we'll pay you some $$$

Been playing for seven.
Last season I started the season with the first 23, missed in game 24 (Pedroia, before he got hurt)
Never sniffed a streak longer than six after that.
