In fact, I'm on a crusade to abolish these, along with many other household items.

An alternative is liquid fabric softener in the washing machine dispenser. Don't know if it controls dryer static. I do not want stiff clothes and sheets.

A +EV of mine is free newspapers the past couple months. The paper box opens without inserting coins. I've lost money in faulty boxes that take your coin but don't open, this way I'm guaranteed a paper. A bit guilty because those guys don't make much money

in our town there are a couple of business that offer free popcorn some days of the week (bank, hardware store, etc.)

in college if i had to go to the store i would go around 9pm or so... and if they had any of those whole roasted chickens that went unsold i would offer them a buck for it... that was good for a couple of meals.

plasma is about the easiest money to make... sit there for an hour 2x a week and make ????back in college we'd get $30 a week but i think now it is $50 and they just give you a DC.

call your energy company - have them check your insulation, windows, doors, thermostat, etc. find out what rebates you qualify for to lower your energy bills. have them give you a free thermostat, shower head, and whatever else they offer to help you control your usage and lower bills.

When in Vegas, sit at a penny slot and actually play 1 penny, 1 line. When the waitress comes around, order a drink. It's good for at least a couple rounds if you don't tip. I saw a lady doing this at Casino Royale -- it looked like she was getting whiskey, straight up each time, and she got at least two or three with no tip.

When ordering flowers, if they don't arrive on the day they are supposed to, make sure you call. The CS person tried to get me to agree to having the flowers delivered the next day, and when I wouldn't, she issued me a refund. The kicker : the flowers arrived at 8 o'clock that night. I saved $54 on that deal.

1.Stuff toilet paper up the coin return on vending machines. Return to the vending machine at the end of the day and collect.

2. Sneak into movies for entertainment. (must use buddy system). Purchase ticket, then go find an empty theatre and open up the backdoor for your friend. Once your friend is in, return to the ticket booth and return your ticket. Once you have the money back in your pocket, return to the backdoor that you let your friend in. Works every time.

3. Bring flashlight with you to the movie theatre. Hang out at the theatre all day and search under seats for loose change. Boys, I used to work at a movie theatre when I was 16 years old. There is money to be made here. I remember I found over 15 dollars in change during 1 shift.
