    I'm moving to Vegas

I just decided today. I have casino dealer experience and also other casino experience so I figure I will just go out there and look for a job.

Anyone have any inside info on job/living situations out there? Casinos looking to hire?

I will be looking for a job and I place to live as soon as I get there.

If you can't find a job right away, take up a valet job. If you get a gig at one of the nicer casinos you can make a nice chuck of CASH MONEY day in and day out. I knew a young guy that worked the window at Caesars and he quit the sportsbook job to go valet cars? I was like you nuts man? He said valet guys make up to 70k and most of it is in cash. GL warrior on your new adventure.

    I agree to an extent.

I just gotta make sure I don't start drinking out of control and gambling out of control.

Have been sober since I got back from Thailand but in Vegas there is of course the temptation to drink heavily.

I find the opposite to be true...............VEGAS gives you so much to do, drinking is far down the totempole.

On the hand, here in Florida, drinking is the 3rd best outlet to enjoy.

    Txs buddy.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't kind of excited and a little nervous... lets face it, moving to Vegas can be a risk for any gambler.

Imo I should start working before I start any kind of gambling, unless its alcohol free and completely under control.

Casinos are laying off people left and right at the present time from what I have seen on TV.

Obama is killing everyone and alot of the tourist just are not spending the money in the casinos like they used to spend

I was just giving the number he gave me, which is probably more realistic than most, unless you get a gig at like the Wynn. And yes, it seems weird, but that is one of the tougher jobs to get in that lovely town.

I love Vegas, Fish. If I didn't have so much to care about here in Chicago, I would have moved there by now.

I have bought real estate in the past in Michigan so I have a pretty good idea of a good deal when I see one and property in Vegas is unreal right now with what you can get for your money. Has wife and I almost thinking the unthinkable, maybe buying a house soon in the future. Heck not even so much for the stability factor that she wants but after swearing off buying a house again, I just can't get over how good of an investment it looks to be.

Have a job before you move. 14.5% unemployment out here. Real Estate is dirt cheap though.

    Iceman,

You need to get out of aparment rental game ASAP. Just a waste of money. My wife and I did stay in an apartment for 1 year after marriage, but that was in Mexico. Then we bought a house in Mexico and sold it 4 years later for 2x as much

Do your research first, chief. I know that in the last couple of years Vegas has laid off a lot of people, but if you're getting in on the ground floor, you probably have a better chance than most.

Going out in Sept to find place to live..

One thing about economies - what goes up must come down and what goes down comes back up.

Perfect time to pounce on VEGAS. You will be happy you did in 5-10 years.....

I've seen ads up for as low as 300-350 a month for rent, that would be a 10$ a night hotel

I don't think there are any 10$ per night hotels or anything even close to that

Anything under $750 a month for rent is a shithole.

You can stay at hotels like the IP for around $25 a night for a month

One can find rent for 750 a month that would be way better than staying at the IP.........

In fact, for around $1000 a month, one can rent a 1250 sq ft. nice HOUSE in Vegas in a relatively nice area.
