I don't think firemen or policemen make that much money. But it's a job you can't plan ahead of time. No one can predict the work load. You may have 5 fires to put out per day or zero. 5 domestic disputes or bank robberies or nothing at all.

it's definitely unfortunate to say the least,but it was the homeowner's responsibility to take the necessary precautions from having this happen. Call it whatever you want, but in today's society nobody ever wants to take responsibilty for one's own actions. Probably one of the main reason's this country is going to hell in a hand basket. Had the the homeowner just paid the $75 like most normal responsible homeowner's this would not be an issue for the liberal MSNBC to cover.

Maybe if he couldn't afford the $75 he could have baked some pies and take them to the Fire Station and show his appreciation to them so if he ever needed them they would be there. pretty sad story, but it was not in their service area. The FD is nice enough to take care of these fuks out in the sticks for a measley $75 a year. I grew up in a very small town with a Volunteer fire dept. There's no fees, its all volunteer & they have state money to help buy the best equipment. But trust me, they know who sends in a $100 donation a year & who doesn't

am i lazy? I was just at a fire for 8 hours.... You probably wouldn't even have the decency to thank the crew either that's how far your head is up your asses. For those of you who think all you do is go inside a house and aimlessly shoot a stream at the fire, try it once, have fun burning up.

Oh by the way...I also have a degree in computer science and could be a computer programmer. A ton of firefighters have more than one job...lazy and stupid? nah...stop being so ignorant. Those firefighters were following orders, they're not just some arrogant fukks.

of course most of us would thank the crew if we were around

i don't think a single person here called firefighters stupid, the ones that aren't volunteers usually are quite smart - around here it's a great job with good benefits

but to play devil's advocate - do you thank everyone that worked building your car? or everyone involved in the process of putting food on your table? i don't take offense when people don't thank me for doing my job - it's MY JOB AND I'M SUPPOSED TO DO IT

if it's your job to put out fires, and you are getting paid to stand next door and watch a fire instead of putting it out then that isn't right
