#37I believe if you choose not to pay the $75 fee you should make arrangements to put out the fire by yourself by investing in smoke alarms, fire exstinguishers and a huge water tank with pressure hose in your yard.Comment -

#39pretty sad story, but it was not in their service area. The FD is nice enough to take care of these fuks out in the sticks for a measley $75 a year. I grew up in a very small town with a Volunteer fire dept. There's no fees, its all volunteer & they have state money to help buy the best equipment. But trust me, they know who sends in a $100 donation a year & who doesn'tComment -

#40Firefighters can be heroes at times, but not automatically...They are overpaid for starters(in most areas). It is a job that takes very little skill or qualifications(relatively speaking) ...You have tons of people wanting those jobs, yet we still pay them near six figures in a lot of places for working three to four days a week. And they can retire with a full, ridiculously loaded pension after 20 -25 years. Doesn't add up. Not in this economy.Comment -

all this stuff is bullshit people use your brain and do some research
firefighters and police are just people like you and me only lazier and often scummierComment -

#54Good for the Firefighters. Let me guess that same guy doesn't believe in buying insurance for his car either.
Dumbass it's 75 bucks a year, that will save a 100K investment. maybe only 25K where he was from. Some people are just too cheap, and get what they deserve (not saying he deserved a fire at his place)Comment -

I never thought of this...But it could be a possibility.
Then the guy could of just told the Firefighters "please guys, I've been tailing Broke Landers, and I can't afford the 75"
Most likely the Firefighters have heard of the failure, and would of put the fire out.Comment -

#58This reminds me of a scene of the movie Mississippi Burning with Gene Hackman, fire brigade in front of a burning afro-american home, they didn't extinguish the fire because the house was just few meters behind the line of their county.Comment -

Theres plenty of things we don't want to pay for in life, but we do, because of unforeseen circumstances in the future.Comment -

obviously not the brightest bulb in the batch.
a. pay the fukking fee
b. if you don't pay the fukking fee, don't let your grandson burn trash next to the house.Comment -

#66i work for an ambulance and u guys have no idea how hard it is to put out a fire in a mobile home; most of the time all you can do is be defensive and not let his neighbors home burn down too.
My guess is if it was not in their service area it took a really long time for them to get to where the home was burning also..Comment -
