and secondly, the superbowl is no bigger a game to a handicapper than a random week 5 game between two terrible teams. its all about the numbers, not the Prestige. so the story that he made some huge bet on the superbowl doesn't even make sense.
Read Coug's link.

do i see any difference
i see the difference between knowing who a guy is and what he bet and not having a clue who he is and googling for some idiotic fantasy story about him making Ivey a beard for a $2m superbowl bet which anyone with half a clue about betting would know is complete BS. the fact that the source for that yarn was the shrink makes it BS that is also hilarious.

You still never answered. How do you know Walters bet on the Saints?
Note. It isn't some story from "The Shrink".
It is from the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Las Vegas’ Billy Walters and Steve Fezzik, are lining up on Indianapolis. Fezzik said he plans to bet the Colts straight up on the money line, at a price of about minus-200, and sources say Walters has done the same in a big way. One story circulating among gambling insiders is that Walters collaborated in some way with poker pro Phil Ivey to place a $2 million money-line bet on Indianapolis at a Strip sports book.

Side note: The Wanny factor is in effect. It was 4th and 9 with 30 some seconds left. You go for it there. You don't try a 52 yard FG with a kicker whose season long is 37. Even if Miami got the ball back, they'd take a knee.

i should probably just not even respond but since you are really intent on beating this dead horse, please know that when the writer puts "one story circulating among gambling insiders" he is basically saying "this is something I read on the Internet which may or may not be true."
the shrink = not a reliable source
you don't know me from a hole in the ground so i don't mind that you think I am BSing but please do not put any stock in some idiotic story that was made up by a world famous assclown.

Domer----we agree on one thing. The Shrink was an assclown. But we will have to agree to disagree on the story. I think a story like that---a guy get's a tip----and of course, Ivey or Walters will never confirm or deny it-----so he runs it that way. I really don't think a LVNJ writer would write a piece based on an internet story from Kenny boy.
Then again, I do recognize it may be complete bullshit.
I am just not so easy to dismiss it.
That is all.

Billy Walters owns the golf club that I work at. His #1 guy owns a house down here. He's here all the time. He watched last years Superbowl right here, and i know for a fact Billy and all his guys took New orleans. He also bet 1 million on texas over USC in the '06 Rose Bowl. He doesn't bet every weekend, only when they find something they really like. trust me.....he's as sharp as there is.

Some people confuse sharpness with greed. Why would a sane person bet 1 million dollars on a fukking coin flip game like USC-Texas bowl game?

You sound rather jaded, and quite jealous. He had texas +7. He felt it should have been a pick, thats why he loaded up like he did. Plus he has the funds to make a bet like that.

Let me repeat myself. Betting 1 million dollars and winning a bet does not man he is sharp. It means he was lucky. A bettor who loses ten 100k bets and wins one 1 million dollars bet is not sharp. He is lucky but not sharp.

the person that knows the difference between lionheart and vince young in that game...and now in the pros which is the same deal. the game was not a keg stand contest, if it was walters would have been lining up at the window backing lionheart.

Are you retarded? Billy Walters is not some fool who inherited a fortune and bets 1 million dollars to impress his poker buddies at Flamingo's. Maybe you should look up a little about him. He's as sharp as they come. He's certainly not some douche who posts his "plays" on all his posts!

This is a pure B.S. post.
I GUARANTEE you that the "real" Billy Walters does not bet the number of plays this poster says he does.
