Webb was the top back this city had seen up to that point.. I still remember the scouting report.. Webb right. Webb left, and Webb up the middle... The first kickoff was good because we pinned them at the 4... What do you expect our kicker was good... We stuffed Webb excepted for three plays...
First offensive play.. untouched 96 yard TD..
77 yard run for a TD
81 yard run for a TD
Other then that he had 314 yards rushing and Macomber won 21-7...
To boot one of our LBackers was Mark Kerr.. He was a UFC champ back in the 90's I think... I never competed against him because he was on the same team...
wow, chuck webb, what a player he was at TN. he would have been our best ever if not for the injury.

A blast from the past Mofo.
That guy was a great RB when he played for UT. Somebody asked me a question a few years back, and I never did find the answer to it, maybe you might know. Whats he doing these days?

WOW I am amazed you guys remember Chuck Webb... The Cobb/Webb connection as they called it was sweet! I saw him a while back in Toledo and I believe he got into business investments around here but i am not sure...
I thought you guys would know who Mark Kerr was before Chuck Webb... I have his rookie card but his picture on the front is from his senior year at Tn. I thought you'd even know Brian Winters before Chuck Webb since he played for a little bit in the pros...
I have coached against some good ones like Big Ben but to play against them is much better...

I thought he was hanging around with Carl Pickens.
That was one heck of a backfield they had at UT during that era.

When playing for the Runnin' Rebs (I can't believe we stole that nickname) in St. Louis AAU hoops, we played against the Show Me Shooters who were absolutely stacked. This would have been in '92-'93. Chris Carrawell (later a guard at Duke) was probably the best player at that time, but future NBA'ers Loren Woods and Jahidi White were also on that team. Granted neither of those guys were very good NBA players, but when you're 13-14 and watching a guy throw down tomahawks on you... Well, it's awe-inspiring to say the least (especially if you're the 5'10"-at the time- white kid who's getting dunked on). They beat us by a score of something like 103-40... It was bad. Very, very bad...

Lawrence Taylor and Scottie Pippen are members at the club where I work. Played once with L.T. and beat him by 10 strokes and several time with Scottie, he terrible so beating him is never a problem.

REALLY..???
Let me know how he does.. I haven't followed him much but I looked up his bio.. One of the sources is wrong because it says he was born in Arizona... The other I saw had it right and even added the HS which I know is right...
I hope he does good because he looks very aged and beat up.. I read that his down fall was due to internal problems.. I can see that because he was in Toledo when his mom passed away and I was coaching at that HS at the time and he came down to say hi to all the coaches... He is a good guy and his mom was a very nice person... I hope he rebounds...
It's amazing how you remember certain things.. I was a sophamore and my first year of varsity football... My first extra point in the scrimmage was how I remmeber Mark... He was the right blocking wing back and I couldn't find the 10 yard line because the lines were too faded... I started FLIPPIN' out and he grabbed me and said.. "hey take it easy it's right here... Set your block down and just kick it through I promise no one will even touch you.." I made it but it was one ugly kick!

Funny thing was: All of us were completely in awe of Carrawell. White and Woods were just big guys that were afterthoughts to us. Carrawell hung 38 or so against us and just completely dominated everyone on the court on offense and defense. Our entire team thought he would be the NBA star out of that group and yet, he's the only one that never made it. White was good at that time (slimmer), but Woods was the better big man from my perspective (that perspective being from below their waists, looking up as they took turns dunking on me and my teammates).

I played with and against some great athletes. The most famous one I played with that most of you older guys would know is Todd Marinovich, the former USC and Raiders QB. We played for the CFL Winnipeg Bluebombers together. The guy was a stud and could make all of the throws. He jammed my fingers several times but always had some legal issues. The most famous I played against was Doug Flutie when he was at Toronto. They won the Grey Cup, he was tough, mobile, quick and the Canadian game was more suited for him. I played with and against some other great athletes in the Arena2 league but no real superstars or anything. I've coached some and against some great kids too. Too many to name.

They were a great pair. I was in the playoffs in high school when Reggie Cobb was playing at Austin East High School. We got beat before we met up. We were hoping to get to play them but it didn't turn out that way.
