Talking about being a goalie, not a regular position player.
Iverson a helluva soccer player????....perhaps so.
Hell, there are millions upon millions of U.S. citizens in America that if they trained to be a soccer player would be highly succsessful...........however, the majority choose to participate in football, basketball, baseball, billards, poker, golf, hockey, track and field, raquetball, handball, or some other sport/activity.
The point is, 30+ current American NBA players could become a world class soccer goalie in 6 months...............Comment -

I thought that line was utterly ridiculous until I read your last statement. Do you really think that in 4 years, the US could beat nations who have been perfecting their most popular sport for decades, nations that have consistently cultivated the best soccer players in the world? You really think the US can match the performance of a Brazilian national team in a matter of 4 years? At this pace of development, maybe the US will win a World Cup in the next 100 years, maybe not. The gap in soccer between the US and the countries that have mastered the world's most popular game over decades and decades is going to take decades to overcome.

If you think that the US could go from an "average" national team to a world champion in a matter of 4 years, well I don't really have to continue further, you can see how foolish that sounds already. If it ever does happen, it's going to take decades for the US to become a soccer powerhouse. To do this is impossible and to say it shows ignorance towards the nations that have cultivated and mastered this sport over decades and decades.
You could equate the athleticism of an NBA player's ability - mainly quickness and ability to lunge - as something that would be crucial to becoming a world class soccer goalie. But to say that an NBA player can develop the technique and acquire the experience that top goalies have accumulated through over a decade of play, I'm just going to say that is "inaccurate", out of respect to you. Don't think that every goalie is like England's Green.Comment -

If we're talking Celtics players, give me Rondo over Garnett in both basketball and soccer. Rondo, with his skillset, would seem to be an ideal goalie. He'd have to learn tactics and strategy, though.
