#73Florida: 95 degrees with 95% humidity 6-8 months of the year. Then you get to dodge hurricanes every other year. Orlando had two cross over them in one year. Then you've got the bugs: the mosquito is the state bird and they ride "palmetto bugs" (roaches) like they are ponies.
If you go a little inland in North County San Diego, it has gotten really cheap as a result of the Anti-Christ's recession. Escondido is OK. What's your budget? How much room do you need?

#74I'm very familiar with north county and Escondido and the whole county. Escondido can be like 15 degrees hotter than the other end of highway 78 ( O'side). I don't need much room at all, judging by what I see in Florida, I don't think I want to spend over 75k on a place ( to be honest). Have a condo in CT ( about 250k value). It's time to get away from my 1st,last, and only wife. I either have to get a divorce or kill myself to do that. Assuming I can get out alive with something like 125k and my old Ford truck, I don't want to spend it all on housing. I don't want a condo/ trailer....**** that, has to be a house.Originally posted by Flying DutchmanFlorida: 95 degrees with 95% humidity 6-8 months of the year. I want somewhere new to me, and SD area is going backwards for me, same for LV, or Colo Springs. Northern Calif would be a change, but I think I want somewhere along the coastline from NC to Texas, but now the gulf coast is iffy with the oil.Comment -

#75Dougie, if you only have $75K to spend, you need to look around in Barstow for a trailer. We could fit you into a double-wide these days, I'm fairly sure.
Good luck with your new Florida pony.

#76Dubai has the highest heat index in the world during the summer months. It's right on the Persian Gulf.Originally posted by forsberg21HAHAH, LMFAO! I lived there and I was counting down the days to get out... that place is the epitome of a run down beach town.
You'd have to go to a place like Monaco to find a place like that, although it's nearly impossible to get citizenship.
Dubai is a good one too, good climate, strong economy, very multicultural, English is one of the main languages and no ghettos... no alcohol though

You can get alcohol at the hotels. If you make friends with a local you can buy liquor cheap.Comment -

You misunderstand, I'm part "Nigerian"
I live deep in the bowels of San Diego, in a house that was once worth $2M, but now $800K...
...to make up the dif, I run drugs, haul illegals, and rob banks...
...they even had me on TV and in the papers a few times.

#86I can't imagine that any more new houses are being built in LV at this time. Does "new" perhaps mean built after 2005, perhaps ?Originally posted by Flying DutchmanI saw a sign where new houses were starting at $76/sq ft in LV. My Realtor buddy says we haven't seen the bottom yet either.
I see Vegas becoming a haven for retirees from OC....sell the old homestead in Santa Barbara for a million, downsize into a nice Vegas condo for 100k type of thing. Should work well for NY types, etc. Maybe not much for jobs but pretty decent place if you don't need one. It can't go too much lower for this reason, IMO.Comment -

#98Austin is nice, but it's quickly becoming overcrowded. Plus, it's like San Francisco minus the gays, nothing but tree huggers in charge. San Antonio is nice though. I think the key is maybe living in the areas around those places though. My sister used to live in Cedar Park, just outside of Austin and it was nice.Originally posted by jbrent95Austin, Texas and the area between Austin and San Antonio.
