Kenny and Jackie were married for a long time, they have children
Do you really think Jackie would kill herself because her husband is broke and cant pay the sportbooks?
I dont think so, she probably would divorce the man and get 50% everything, house,...

If they are dead I think shrink killed her

In a word, absolutely. It is done more times than people may realize. It is not common, but husband/wife suicides make up about 10% of the total suicides in this country. Most, but not all, are due to health problems involving one, or both spouses, but double suicides because of financial problems have occured.

Now I am not saying that this is what happened, but I can guarantee you that stranger suicides than this one have occured. No one knows what kind of pact that these two may have had. It is quite possible that she decided that she could not live without him. I have seen it before. The truth of the matter remains a mystery, and until more evidence is released, it will remain a mystery. As a former peace officer, I just look at ALL the possibilities, and settle on none until I think the evidence overwhelmingly supports one conclusion. That certainly is not the case in this case as of now.

What is 50% of everything ?

Just because someone owns a $800,000 house does not mean they even have equity in it

So many clueless people on this forum and why does anyone give a rats ass anyway ?

Read the quote again smarty !!!

It says it does not mean you have equity in it. Last I heard the % was pretty high now and a lot of homes are upside down.

Ever heard of 2nd and 3rd mortages and homes being valued less than mortgage ?

Somehow doubt that he was broke. If he was, he sure knew how to hide it well. He lived in a nice house that is worth around a mil, he had a very expensive car, an amex black card, etc. He lived the good life, yes, I know people can fake that, but he lived like that for a long time. He paid for huge bases in the bahamas and flew his staff to vegas for his leyroys appearances.

I spent time with him in Vegas and he bet plenty. I know BigDaddyQh wants to keep saying he was small potatoes, but he between winning the Leroys contest 2x, forums, his radio show, and the TV interviews he had done in the past, he was reasonable well known IN THE GAMBLING WORLD.

I read that the police are investigating what happened but the toxicity report would take about 10 weeks. I also read that there were notes left by both TheShrink and his wife.

Doubt there is much more to as it as much as people want to think there is.

TheShrink was the guy that basically invented these forums, so we all that to thank him for.

The lady that my girlfriend did the books for 5 years lived that way too.

She had a big home in Dallas , 100k Mercedes , AMEX bill ran between 8k-10k a month just on food and clothes.

She filed for bankruptcy last year.

I wonder if the son in law at the other forum still has "thanks dad" as his quote? Gambling made his mom agree to take part in this. If I was him, I would be filled with hatred.

A husband and wife who died over the weekend apparently committed suicide, although their deaths are still under investigation.
Police received a report of a double suicide Saturday morning in the 2100 block of Hickory Forest Drive. They arrived at 10:42 a.m., according to police. The cause of death won't be officially known until toxicology reports become available.
That could take up to 12 weeks, said Officer Dorienne Boykin, Chesapeake police spokeswoman.
The couple who died are Kenneth and Jacqueline Weitzner. Kenneth Weitzner was a retired psychiatrist who once ran an online sports gambling magazine called The Prescription from his Chesapeake home.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory on Cedar Road, according to the pair's obituary.

BOYS THIS WAS NOT A MONEY ISSUE IN MY OPINION SHRINK HAD MILLIONS EVEN IF HE LOST 700,000 THATS NOTHING TO SHRINK.

JJGOLD HE MADE A FORTUNE WHEN HE SOLD THE ORIGINAL RX FORUM HIS HOUSE ALONE WOULD HAVE COVERED THE GAMBLING DEBT I BET HE OWNED HIS HOUSE AND THAT WAS A MANSION.

I GOT A FEELING THIS WAS A MEDICAL REASON MAYBE SHRINK FOUND OUT HE HAD LUNG CANCER OR SCARLETT DID I DONT THINK HE KILLED HIMSELF OVER MONEY I THINK IT HAD TO DO WITH HEALTH.

SHRINK HAD TONS OF MONEY I JUST WOULDNT THINK HE WOULD DIE OVER MONEY THIS WAS A MEDICAL DECISION I AM SURE OF IT

This will be my only post on this topic. I know who he was, I'd heard him on the radio. I've visited eog many times. Not a member there, Never posted. I think it was a combination of gambling debt and knowing too much that drove him to his final acts. R.I.P.

the untimely death of the forum originator Kenneth Weitzner was not so much about money, but about time.

he loved his family too much, the only thing that makes sense is that he was faced with not being able to see too much of them again.

                                                that's my opinion anyways.

whatever the final reasons are, and we may never know, it is truly sad to hear about a guy who seemed to have it all have such a fall from grace and have it end like this. horrible horrible ending for the surviving members.

I have read this thread and I agree that he was well known in the gambling community, but not by all in the gambling community. But lets get real! The gambling community isnt that big people. So to be well known by 60% of the people in the gambling community is to be known by very few people overall on the grand scale of things. Wayne Root is way more known and if he died today I dont think there would be a newsbreak to interrupt Days of our Lives or a mention on NBC nightly news.
Not taking anything away from the man and his success, but what we all do is considered taboo & is illegal in this piss poor puritan founded country.

                                                      - did he really have a 500K bet on the ncaa champ gm btwn duke and butler that he lost? was that money he would have owed to bookies on credit or was it cash in his hand that he lost?

                                                      - was he looking at jailtime because he ran a gambling site out of the US? if so, then why wouldnt the wife wana stay alive to be there for the kids and grandkids while he was in jail?

                                                      - did they owe tons of money to the IRS like the old espn sideline guy Adrian Carsten did when he offed himself to avoid jail time?

                                                      - why would he take his own life at age 53/54 and in good health it seemed? was he mentally ill? depressed? and the worst question: did he kill his wife first and then kill himself? was it a murder suicide?

this story is so crazy. just looking for answers from those who might know much more by their own personal dealings w/The Shrink or maybe they know firsthand info

Foul Play Ruled Out in Shrink’s Death

Foul play is not suspected in the deaths of gambling news website operator Kenneth B. "The Shrink" Weitzner and his longtime wife, Jacqueline, who were both found dead this past Saturday in Chesapeake, Virginia, USA.

The deaths came about because of a "suicide pact" between the couple, said Bob Oman, owner of the Oman Funeral Home & Crematoria in Chesapeake, in an exclusive interview Monday night with Gambling911.com. The funeral home is handling funeral arrangements for the Weitzners.

"The bodies were turned over to us today by the Tidewater District medical examiner," Oman said. "There will be a memorial service here for the Weitzners on Tuesday, and then a day or two later they will be cremated, as per the wishes of the family."

The medical examiner's office would not have turned the bodies over to the funeral home so quickly if foul play were suspected in the deaths, Oman said.

"If there was any suspicion of foul play whatsoever, the medical examiner would be conducting a full investigation and we wouldn't have gotten the bodies," Oman said. "But that (foul play) is apparently not the case. There were no autopsies. There were no toxologicial tests. The bodies won't be embalmed, just cremated."

When a death appears to be an obvious suicide, authorities, if there are no special circumstances, often will not conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Oman described the couple's deaths as a "double suicide" and said it was part of a "suicide pact" where both Weitzners apparently agreed to mutally commit suicide.

Oman said he was told that by authorities who investigated the deaths, although he added that he was not given specific details.

Ken Weitzner ran the website Eye on Gambling (www.eog.com).

Notices posted on that website by one of his step-sons announced the deaths--"They took their own lives"-- and attributed them to "sleeping pills" and "carbon monoxide," with no further details given.

In most cases, a suicide note is left when there is a suicide, but Oman said he did not know if one was left in this case.

Weitzner was Jewish and his wife was not.

Under the rules of Judaism, cremation is frowned upon because it is seen as desecrating the human body, which is holy.

"It's unusual but not unheard of for Jews to be cremated," Oman said. "Especially if they are not very religious."

Ken Weitzner: Not a Doctor, But Played One On The Internet

Some years back, a now-infamous television commercial began with a man declaring, "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV."

The man, a real-life soap opera actor, then absurdly proceeded to praise the merits of a particular brand of cough syrup.

Gambling news website operator Ken "The Shrink" Weitzner, who died last week, wasn't a doctor, but he played one on the Internet.

Weitzner, 54, of Chesapeake, Virginia, USA, ran the website Eye on Gambling (www.eog.com) and before that a similar website called The Prescription (www.therx.com).

He called himself "The Shrink" and often referred to himself as either a psychiatrist or a former psychiatrist.

                                                            He was neither.

And he once had to admit it, under oath in a court of law.

In 1998, Weitzner was sued for libel by Dennis Atiyeh of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, USA, after Weitzner wrote on The Prescription that Jamaican offshore sportsbook English Sports Betting (ESB), owned by Atiyeh, was about to go out of business.

Weitzner made the erroneous claim after Lynda Collins, a reporter for the Las Vegas Sporting News (also owned by Atiyeh), told Weitzner in a webcast interview that her most recent paycheck had bounced.

Weitzner then put a scanned image of the bounced check, which was marked "Returned for insufficient funds," on The Prescription and leapt to the false conclusion that because one Atiyeh employee got one bounced check on one occasion, all Atiyeh-owned businesses must be in financial trouble.

Weitzner advised readers of The Prescription who were ESB customers to pull the funds from their ESB accounts immediately, lest they be stiffed when the sportsbook went under.

                                                            Some ESB customers did.

Atiyeh was furious and sued Weitzner for $5 million.

During the libel trial in a Virginia courtroom, Weitzner was cross-examined under oath by Atiyeh's attorney.

In an effort to show that Weitzner had a history of lying, the attorney asked Weitzner if he was or ever had been a psychiatrist or a doctor of any kind.

Weitzner was forced to admit that he wasn't and hadn't.

Under questioning, Weitzner admitted that he had attended and graduated from medical school, where he studied psychiatry, but that he had flunked--twice--the medical boards exam one needed to pass to be officially certified and licensed as a psychiatrist.

Just as a would-be attorney needs to graduate from law school and pass the bar exam to practice law, a doctor must graduate from medical school and pass a medical equivalent of the bar exam to practice medicine.

Weitzner never passed the exam, never was a "shrink" and was exposed in court as a fraud.

As Paul Harvey used to say, "Now you know the REST of the story."

(The lawsuit was eventually settled out of court before the trial went to verdict.)

I think that he had too many hotheads at EOG running the place. I like Blondie, but guys like MOFO thought they were God. They were also terrible handicappers, and would get pissed when you called them out on it. But he was no big deal to me. I never gave the guy a second thought. I am sorry that his life had toend the way it aparently did. I am more sorry for his wife. But to say that thos guy was some well known gambler and computer guru is so false that it boggles the mind. I guarantee you that if yo ask 100 regulars in Vegas if they knew this guy, 99 would say no. A few would say that theyheard of him, but that is because of what has happened recently. But the vast majority of people would say no. I know hundreds of gamblers, and so far, none of them say they knew him, or were even aware of his sites.
Blondie IS fine, but Mo is a ****ing uneducated, simple minded retard. EOG is in deep shit if he's kept on.

Kenny owed lots of agents, he and his wife loved money and loved spending money. He simply could not accept he would be broke the rest of his life and in debt and decided this was the best option.
