If you cant quit gambling you are mentally weak. Simple as that. Gambling brings you pain and agony? Either toughen up and double, triple, and quadruple down and get your money back and risk more pain or smarten up and realize what the heck am I doing here and step aside.

Two main options - and whichever way you choose, have conviction about it.

    1. You stick with what you just said in the original post. You're sick and tired of the activity, you see it as pointless, and so you make up your mind to stop completely. In this case, I suppose you must develop the attitude that gambling is extremely dangerous to your health and your future. And you accept the facts that you cannot master it and/or overcome all the odds stacked against you. At that point, it would be completely foolish to continue gambling in any form - the same way it would be to continue any activity in your life which you determine is pointless, makes you unhappy, and detrimental to your health. After that, it will take time but gambling will become a distant memory, and although you cannot get back the money you lost, you will make new money and find a comfortable lifestyle. Keep in mind if the point of gambling is to make money (perhaps "extra" money) rather than an entertainment expense for you,....keep in mind that most people, including the very financially successful make a ton of money and gambling has nothing to do with it, in fact many of those people probably view gambling as folly.

    2. On the other hand, you might come to a decision that you are mad enough about the losses, and confident enough about your intelligence, that you vow to be smarter when you gamble and treat it like a puzzle that you must solve. There are many aspects to consider, many styles and formats. Start by analyzing what you have done wrong in the past, how exactly did you lose.....really study it. Keep good records and do not be complacent because you already know how difficult it is to achieve the desired results when gambling. I also believe there should be some level of enjoyment to doing it, while at the same time its work.

Everyone of us have been there. You lose a big bet that was a lot bigger than you should be betting with your bankroll and so you go looking for another game or go into live betting to "Get that money back". you fire away another bet, but this time its on some over priced fav and you put down 3 times the amount you lost on the first bet to hopefully break even. you sit there sweating the fuk out of the game on a rollercoaster on every play. your bet looks good with 2 mins left than inexplicably they lose the game by 1 and now half or more of your bankroll is in the bookies pocket.

Now you think to yourself "WTF am I going to do now" and your tilt level is at 120 "out of 100 by the way", so you either go into the casino and blast the remainder of your roll off at the BJ or craps table, or you look at the clock and see its 2am and think to yourself, fuk there isn't any games on right now. But then a lightbulb goes off and you look and see that some korean baseball or Japan basketball game is running on the live betting platform.

You pull up espn and see that each team is shit, you know zero about either team or the league itself, but see the favorite pre game is down by 3 and is now +175 for the game. you think "fuk if i put the remaining of my BR on them plus money I will be even for the day and I can completely forget about tonight". You take the leap of faith and fire a huge bet plus money of some 3rd world bball team you have never seen before and watch the live stream or score ticker in the live bet software like its the last bet of your life.

as the clock ticks down to 2 mins or innings left you suddenly realize that your bet is toast and so is your bankroll. you take 4 or 5 shots of scotch and pass the fuk out on the couch after repeatedly asking yourself what the fuk did I do.

wake up and do it again the next day.

Exactly MS. All these fuk'in degenerates writing long winded posts like they're some fuk'in experts.

It's simply Tony, just take a break dude. Sounds like you're burnt out. Walk away from it, clear your head, and then decide if you wanna come back. Gambling is not for everybody. If you're chasing or in a rut, back off and chill out from the books for a while. Good luck Tony.

Read the entire Bible word for word.

I still gamble, but I find time to do all these other things that I mentioned. You gotta be balanced. You can't spend all your time playing online poker, or sports wagering, etc etc. If you have kids, spend time with your kids. If you are single, go on a date. If you are married, spend time with your wife. If you can't find anyone to date, then get on POF, Tinder, Match and look at profiles/pictures.

If all you do is spend your free time thinking about gambling, then your life is gonna suck, especially if you've lost a lot. It'll just reinforce all your past losses. Everyone makes bad investments. The key to making a good investment is knowing when to stop a bad one. If gambling is that for you, then just give it up. Open a TD Ameritrade account, put your money into some no load Mutual Funds, and get your fix from watching the market.
    Solid advice.

Discipline not to bet real cash is the key here. Betpoints keeps you in the game with less damage. It can be done.

Try to replace gambling with something in your life. I know it's easy to say but that's the only way to quit gambling. Find yourself a hobby, get yourself an instrument and find some tutorials on Youtube, go to kitchen and try to cook. You don't need someone to do all those things, it's just an excuse. Most importantly, if you think it's necessary, go and get some help.
It's always good to do something with mind at peace. Not only for gambling, but for other stuff as well.

Tony. Everyone has advice. But why quit doing something you enjoy? . 1. Bring your wagers down to the correct ℅ based on bankroll. 2. Do not intermingle bankrolls. 3. Stay out of casino, unless you have a bankroll for that (really just stay away). 4. Do not martingale,. You have a 1℅-5℅ range in sports bets. 5. Find a good capper and tail. 6. Still make your own wagers just at the smaller 1℅. . All this should prevent the bust outs. Objective is to gradually build your bankroll, so that you have a big enough one where a +2 or 3 wagers a week is paying a car payment and insurance. Or setting up for retirement.

If it is really affecting your life (wife, kids, jobs, etc.) then you should seek out GA. I am lucky in that I am able to treat it as a hobby. It is somewhat analogous to a "social drinker" vs. an alcoholic. A couple of my best friends are true gambling addicts. I've seen it ruin their lives. Often booze/gambling/drugs get mixed together. I struggle with alcohol a lot. It is part of having an addictive personality.

If you keep trying to quit or at least reign it in and are unable, then you probably need help.

If you're consistently betting $500 on the Hawaii game, you might have a problem. Best of Luck.

Find a new hobby and stay busy with that is another way to beat your vices... Idle mind and idle time is the devils play ground... The mind will dwell on your vices and addictions if it's not busy... Working and going to the gym are good.. Then just be stubborn and say no and be strong..

That's can be another way to beat it... Will get easier over time..

A story of crack addiction -

I knew a crack addict that would run out of money a week before every month and she would not be able to get the crack until her Government check came in the mail.. I'd ask her how do you deal with that, you're hooked? She simply told me when I run out money I know I can't get it anymore and that's that. I then don't care and accept it. She said she just gives up mentally on it and accepts it and it's not that hard after that. That kinda blew me away but that's what she did every month, she was hooked for years.. Sure enough one month she really didn't have any money at all and went sober for almost that entire month and never went back to it for good... The cravings slowly went away..

That's just a true story of a woman I knew in the hood that beat a crack addiction on her own.. It's all in your mind people.. Just give up on gambling in your mind when you are broke and accept it and stop thinking of ways to borrow to get money to feed it.. Accept you are broke and don't gamble, make it no big deal in your mind and it will be no big deal in your mind.. If you think it's a big deal and start stressing and obsessing over it then it will be a big deal in your mind.. That goes for any addiction..
