I'm at about the same pace. I just took 8 weeks off with a knee injury so I'm easing back into it. I ran a 10K last summer in about 1:10, this year my goal is to do it in under an hour.

Congrats on 3 miles. Now knock it up and see what you can do in an hour. 30 minutes is only half of what you should do

The marines are allowed 25 minutes to run 3 miles so id say 27 minutes for only 6 weeks of running is great.

my senior year in HS I ran our home 3.1 cross country course with lots of hills in 15:53

my best 5k (3.1 miles) on the road was 15:43

I got bored with running after a half year of college. went back to football, basketball and lifting....

sat on the bench in basketball, never saw the field in football, lifted some impressive weights, threw the shot 47 feet, the jav 204 and had a 6,850+ decathalon

now I walk briskly for 20 mins briskly before lifting and 30 mins slowly after lifting 3 days a week. I haven't run more than 3 miles in 10 years most likely

I only run 1 mile, too tough a pace for 23, or even 5. But typically I run intervals, best way to get into shape.

I could bust a nut twice in about 27-28 minutes.

Hey Pecos, an alpha male wouldn't bust a nut on our faces, he'd do it on Naughty Mommy and Bad Nina's while the Seer looks on in approval.

I run 10 minutes every day which usually works out to 1.5 miles.

                                                    4:28 1600 in high school, 1:54 800

I know a few girls that broke 5 mins in the 1600, you are right its not hard.

forget 4:00 in the mile for the best in the world

try 8:00 for 2 miles now..... its been broken

the avg mile for the 3.1 mile (5k) record was like 4.04 a mile

the top marathon guys avg about 4:49 per mile for 26.2 miles

but most people just aren't built to do anything close to that

                                                    just like 99.9% of people can't do a 4.4 40

exactly. and you trained all season to run that. plus in the intensity of a meet you can add at least :45 to that time. in high school if you went down to the track by yourself one morning and put out a 100% effort you would only be able to run about 6:00...........if FD can do a 5:30 mile he is on a track club and runs in meets, so i doubt it

but most people just aren't built to do anything close to that

                                                        just like 99.9% of people can't do a 4.4 40
1:54 in the 800 is very good. could have won the massachusetts state title in the years i was on HS
