AK was a scammer through and through. Kind of like raiders but with a slightly higher IQ. Supposedly he got access to account details at a number of the books (username/passwords) from CS agents who fancied a pay-off for providing them.

#74it's pretty disgraceful thatthat stuff like this happens all the time, and the sportsbooks do no nothing to try to stop it. Instead they lay the blame on the players for not protecting their passwords. As if there is a way to protect your password from rogue employees who have access to themComment -

#75It should be pretty easy to fix. Our passwords are stored with a 1-way encryption mechanism. The only thing we can do is reset the password. If a book implemented a similar policy and logged anytime a pw was reset and what CS rep was responsible for the reset everything should be secure. At least more secure than it sounds like it currently is.Comment -

#79My apology for the late response here, people! I have traveled to a friend in the U.S., where I am now staying for a few more weeks and did not get my notebook online up to today.
Anyways, I am again in touch with Bill now and would prefer to not make any further comments about this before I have received a proper response from BetCris again.
I however promise to keep this thread properly updated again from now on, so people know what is happening. After all, this matter is of big importance for all players and potential customers of BetCris and it needs to be made sure that anything like this NEVER comes to happen with them again!Comment -

#81This is an alarming thread, I would have to assume that most account hijack occurs when someone unknowingly downloads a keylogger, or accepts a file over direct AIM connection from someone they "trust online", or has the unfortunate luck of having their details sold by scumbag employees.
If someone is careful to never download files directly from strangers, has a password which isn't easily crackable like "password11", how safe are they assuming up to date computer software and no wireless router? Also, do many of you continue to request exclusion from the casino portion of your books? It makes sense, I've never thought of that.Comment -

#82Phew... Again my apology for the late update! This issue has been dragging for a long time now and my own nerves are getting stretched up to the max. Though BetCris' management is apparently reviewing this situation now, I unfortunately have no news to report at this time. Bill Dozer is still on it however and I will keep visitors of this forum on the latest!
Edit: I will be on the road for the weekend and most likely going to be unable to look further into this matter. If anything happens, I will post here by Tuesday the latest.Comment -

-As apparently their manager is still reviewing the problem at the moment, I want to keep my mouth shut and first see if there can be found a resolution. This whole scenario has however been dragging for weeks now, which I honestly can not understand either. 30 Grand may not have as big of a meaning to BetCris as it does to me, but I am sure it is no pocket change for them either! All I want is to hope that they eventually prove to be the serious company they claim to be.Comment -

#92Another piece of advice is to have a different password at each sportsbook. The password should be long and totally random, such as s3j5k4ihn598d. Don't use your girlfriend's name, your favorite team, etc. etc. I have a way of coding this data on my computer so that if someone stoled my computer they would not know what the passwords are. I change my passwords every year except for books I don't plan to use again.
There is a real danger that someone at CRIS or one of the other books could sell username and password information to someone in the States. The only thing we can do about this is only play at books that send you an email whenever someone enters your account and does a transaction, including the transactoin of changing your email. If you ever get an email like this and it wasn't you call the sportsbook immediately. In most cases a scammer is either mad at you or his employer and is going to hit 19's at BJ. Another possibility is a dishonest casino owner hacking an account - a good reason to play at reputable books. Another possiblity is someone looking to funnel money to someone else at the poker table. Most of these can be detected.Comment -

I think people need to keep changing their passwords every 2 to 4 weeks to prevent things like this from happening, especially if you carry a rather high balances.Comment -

#97What's even more idiotic, is that the Live Chat window already knows your password and uses it as part of your chat handle, like "myname/mypass:". Then, the CS rep STILL asks for your password, even though its right there as your chat handle. Duh!Comment -
