need help! my betcris account has been hacked!
    Hey guys,

I tried logging in today only to find out my password had been changed and someone made an $88 ML parlay on the NBA and used money in the casino as well (approximately $68)...I'm totally freaked out...I spoke with Pierre and they are working on things (they have already credited the money from the ML parlay to my account and are investigating the casino situation)...Bill, or anyone with any pull with betcris (even the prick), can you please make a call for me and vouch that I am a legit player...if you need more specific information, please email me at: xxxxxxxx thanks a bunch

OK, just got off of the phone with Pierre...the casino manager has now left for today and he is confident things will be resolved tommorrow...in the process though, I tried having the account password changed, but the casino manager said to wait...the guy (or whoever it was) came back on and played the $88 credited from the voided NBA wager in the online casino...unbelievable...they just have to check to make sure the IP address is different than my normal one and it shouldn't be a problem...still sucks this happened...

              illuision,

yeah, I try to tell the guy we needed to change the password immediately and at least have the $88 left for wagering (the rest of my bets are bowl games that are pending)...which is cool though, 'cause I don't have any wagers to place with them in the next 24-48 hours...so now we have to recover the $68 and the $88...any advice on whoever else over there I should talk to?...I kind of felt like I got the run-around a little, I mean I know that they are busy and all, but it seems like it was something that should have been resolved after 3ish hours...

Your story is exactly like mine. Someone went on my account and played in the casino. This has been nothing, but a headache for me trying to resolve the situation. I was out over $5k though. Good luck with your case.

One more thing for those who doesn't play in the casino, call your books and have them to restrict your account to have access to casinos. Most books will be gladly to do it for you. Better safe than sorry, believe me.

                        pags11,

These have always been my biggest fears!
Currently I know of a few gambling websites that use zero encryption and I had to setup a HUB type of network at home to prove how easy it is to hack passwords.
Having said this any fraudulent activity generally does not come from external hacking. Can you tell me a bit more where and how you use the net?

                          acw,

I mean, I use the net for emailing, some online purchases and basically just for surfing for information, especially on handicapping college football and basketball...how can I ensure that something like this doesn't happen again?...my whole frickin' day has been ruined by this...Cris is being really cool about it, especially the CS guy Pierre...I'm going to try talking to their head, Kelly here at 9 PM PST tonight...anybody else with any input would be much appreciated...thanks...

yeah, I do too...I have disabled the casino option with all of the books I currently play at...thanks for suggesting that billie...I am wondering once they trace this guy's IP address if they can nail him...am getting read to speak with Kelly, one of the main supervisors for betcris...just want to fill her in on what has happened...still wont' have a final answer until tommorrow sometime, most likely, but I heard she's one of the best there...

                                      Illusion,

thanks, I learn stuff everyday from people on the forum...

finally, I got a hold of someone with some pull...night supervisor Kelly...she's awesome, I told her what happened in about five minutes, she disabled my account completely and made a huge note (apparently some of the CS didn't handle it the way they had been trained, especially when I requested that my password be changed immediately and they wouldn't let me)...she reviewed my account history and saw the randomness of the wagering in my account over the last 24 hours...Eddie, one of the Casino managers will be handling this in the morning and things should be taken care of by end of business tommorrow...

it pays to play with an "A" book...thanks so much SBR for educating me and thanks to everyone in the forum for all the input...will let you know how it turns out tommorrow...

Yeah, that's pretty dumb. Best way to funnel money would be to get several buddies on the same poker table at ACR and just dump all the funds in a non-suspicious way.

Now, BetCris should obviously review these type of cases, because I was just thinking some people could just give their info to a buddy in a foreign country or across the country and have them place longshots wagers (parlays/casino) on my account and then if they don't win, call them and say somebody had hacked into my account (sorry my mind always naturally looks for that edge). If the parlay hits or jackpot wins, I can just go on with my account with the huge winnings and if BetCris calls that into question, just say, it's actually a split account with my buddy. Just some food for thought...

Hope everything works out for you pags and I'd recommend not giving out IDs looking for referral bonuses; lots of hackers out there.

This is very true. Unfortunately I'm sure this happens more often that we think - it's a very obvious potential loophole. I mean, what if a long-standing book player tries this trick? Surely they'd have to give him the benefit of the doubt based on years of regular play.

Also the warning about the disclosure of account IDs is very true. Once you have an account ID, all it takes is someone to find out some information about the person in question to fool the book into thinking they are that person.

talked with Eddie, he was very professional and at the same time very stern...they will be running a check on the IP addresses...I want to be clear that I have never had a problem with Cris regarding security before, this is an isolated situation and Cris is an excellent book...from all of this I will make sure to be very careful who receives my account number (even those people you get referral bonuses from, you have to be careful of and not to use a high risk password (like I had previously done)...Bill is speaking with Anthony with the customer service department regarding the $88 dollar matter...hopefully Cris will credit the entire $156, but I really feel the $88 could have been spared had I been able to change my password when I asked customer service rep Pierre...

guys, thanks for all of the advice...it's duely noted...I don't have access to the info., but in judging the ML parlay this person made (Sac. Kings who I believe were significant underdogs to Detroit and Mil. Bucks-who I don't even know there record 'cause I don't follow the NBA), I feel it was this person's objective to screw me...I am wondering in the casino if the person just did stupid stuff (like went all in on one hand or hit when they had a 19 or something)...'cause like you guys said, they had to have known if they won, there was no way they would have been able to recover the funds...either that, or it was one sick person who just had to gamble for the sake of gambling...got off the phone with Bill Dozier and he will be talking to head CS rep Anthony regarding the matter and we will go from there...again, I want to be clear that Cris is an excellent book and and in no way do I think they have been fraudulant...I am just hoping the situation can be resolved, part of the reason I play with them is because their customer service is the best...

                                                          Pags,

The $88 should be in your account now. You should have been able to change your password. There is no reason for a clerk not to allow the player to change a PW. CRIS Mgt. is going to review the conversation you had with this clerk.

In regards to the initial access of the account, players will be responsible for their log on information and using a secure password. Mgt. has more details for you now if you'd like to give them a call.

first of all, thank you Bill Dozier...this guy is worth his weight in gold...without him and SBR, I don't know what I'd do sometimes...he is very objective and sees both the book's and the players side...thank you bill not only for your help, but your advice on how I can protect myself and my books in the future...

Mickey from betcris has credited $88 of the $156 back into my account...since this was my main issue of concern, (on not having my account frozen, not being able to have my password changed, and not being able to speak with a CS supervisor or a casino manager) I am very happy to see they credited this, because this could have been easily prevented...kudos to Mickey and the CS team at cris for doing so...it is greatly appreciated...

as far as the IP trace goes, I've been told by Bill that they weren't "exact" matches, but that whoever hacked the account was in the proximity of where I normally log on...I have no way to dispute this, and I have no reason to distrust Cris regarding this finding...

also, as I stated before, whoever hacked my account was most likely able to do so not from a software or security flaw on Cris's end, but rather an easily obtainable account number/ password...

I'm still hoping (possibly wishful thinking on my end) to recover the other $68, but if I do not I will consider it a small learning lesson regarding internet security...

I do have to say that I was not extremely impressed with the intial customer service I received from Cris (up until the time I was able to speak with CS supervisor Kelly, and then casino manager Eddie-both of whom were very professional)...I think had better customer service been displayed initially by Pierre and other members of the CS staff yesterday afternoon, some confusion could have been prevented...

I'm waiting to talk with Mickey regarding this, but BetCris has shown once again why they are a class book...

P.S. Prick, if I don't get the remaining $68, I'm gonna have to get it by beating you this weekend finally! lol...

Depending on the browser you use, all the person would have to know is that you use betcris. Then they could just go to the website, and your login id and passowrd might alreeady be saved on your browser.
