Actually our forefathers said "bear arms". They never mentioned guns. If they knew hand-held automatic pistols, assault weapons and machine guns would be invented in the near future they would have thought twice about second amendment. The bear arms they thought was the front loader pistol and the sword so a man can defend his family or property. They did not intend weapons to be so advanced that a single person can cause carnage to thousands.

Make it possible for "hunters" to have an avenue to either keep their hunting arms available [or rent]at the local hunting club,probably out of city limits,to allow them to hunt,or shoot, in confined area, in close proximity of the gun club .

That is just one example [which will need serious adjustments].

I would propose a LAW so intimidating ,that citizen of AMERICA would be very foolish to even touch a handgun,or any other gun that could be used for human extermination !
Something like this...a citizen shall not buy a gun ,or buy ammunition for his or her gun without a severe penalty of the Law,being found guilty of owning a firearm would constitute a term of 60 days in jail[or house arrest],owning a gun with ammunition found with the gun would amount to a term of 3 months in jail .[or house arrest]

Any citizen proved firing a weapon such as a gun will be give 6 months in jail.[you have been warned]

Weapons considered to be extremely dangerous ,such as AK 47's,would be forbidden to be allowed beyond AMERICAN borders ,and the penalty of that Law ,would be harsh ,such as losing AMERICAN citizenship , lengthy prison term ,or both !
If the shooter is proven guilty of shooting at another citizen ,the penalty would be 5 years in prison !

If a citizen is shot by another citizen the penalty would be 10 years, or the death penalty if the victim expires !

America protects it's citizens the best it can .
With every other home possessing a gun,certainly that makes an Police work an extremely dangerous ,and dirty job !
