even money...depicts how you can loose it all and ruin your marriage gambling, also shows how someone looses control and cant pay there debts the bookie will then own you and force you to do things or else hell hurt your family.

A lot of people don't like it but I do. Worth seeing - especially if you like Michael Imperioli's acting. Shows you just what Stu was like - the genius card player and his darker side that ruined him.

"Let It Ride" gets my vote - just in terms of how real all the characters at the track were. Everyone can relate to every character in that movie when it comes to gambling or being at a track.

Two for the Money is realistic for sure. "Gambling's not your problem. It's this ****ed up need to feel something. To convince yourself you exist. That's the problem."

I remember a European chick who signed up for the red cross to take care of wounded soldiers (as anti-war as it gets). She couldn't believe this 'war movie' was my favorite movie. When I told her it was really about love it became her favorite movie too.
But it's also a gambling movie. Love and gambling go hand in hand. Look at the gamble DeNiro takes at the end just to get his buddy back. They first played that game when they had no choice. But in the end they both had a choice. And they still played...
And just when it looks like the bet will pay off, when Nicky remembers through the fog of his war trauma -- with "one shot" bringing the whole movie full circle -- ... Boom! Remember the first time seeing that? OMG.

I got a chance to watch it last night and thought it was pretty decent. I didn't really know his story at all before watching it, so that mightve made it a little more entertaining not knowing what was coming. The acting was definitely solid, but overall it's not like there was anything new or groundbreaking so I'd give it a 7/10.

Rounders is a good movie that goes over the highs and lows of gambling and the trouble you can get yourself into when you get too deep. Liked that movie before the poker BOOM!

I saw this years ago back when it was first on VHS rental and on HBO. It was good - they get into some different kinds of gambling, getting addicted, high loansharking interest, etc. Worth seeing but it never seems to be on TV much.
