well the media has to tell you that "it is spreading like wildfire in the south" because in democrat-cities the narrative went from pandemic lockdowns to riot curfews... the south was starting to have some good old redneck fun again, weddings, get togethers, picnics, don't forget... fun is outlawed!

what a coincidence that we seamlessly went from lockdowns to curfews, another coincidence that "george floyd" is an anagram for "edge of glory" (moment of death)

if you look at the correction in garbage stocks like chk/htz it's been pretty unreal (so was the run up)... and even the higher quality names in hospitality/retail have given quite a bit back in just 2 days

weird times, i never thought that airlines/oil/retail/hotels/casinos would trade like penny stocks

I pulled out of some stocks today and am doing no penny stocks for a while. Sadly, it’s best if the market sinks for a bit and then you get your engines ready for another surge. But it went up too high too fast and needs to pull back a bit. Still good bargains out there.

Trimming as well, even with my longer term holds (realizing profits).

i think there's still some great opportunities in corporate debt/preferred stocks... a lot of those paying 8-12% or so... more protection than the common with the same kind of long-term return

secured amc bonds, the newer cruise bonds, those are paying 12% (with some risk of course, but way less risk than the older bonds and especially the common stock)... you can find bank preferreds and safer stuff paying 8%

You're way over my intellect when it comes to day to day trading. I understand options to some extent but my days of gambling are far behind me and my intellect is 10% of what it was. LOL

no, i'm talking about buying bonds or preferred stocks in companies... for example if you think ford will survive, you can buy ford's preferred stock and get about 8%/year return... if they fail you still get something (when gm went bankrupt the preferred's got about 1/2) unlike the common stock where you usually get nothing

a lot of banks have the same thing, a common stock and a preferred stock. yes if clo's crash the banking industry those would be in trouble, but we're all pretty doomed at that point anyway

We need to remember that if there's a bankruptcy, the preferred stock won't be paid off until the creditors are paid, and if you can't pay off all of the creditors, the preferred and common stockholders get nothing.

but preferred stockholders usually get something... and when a company stops paying a preferred dividend, it counts as a default (and they still owe it, those are cumulative)... so usually unless a company goes bankrupt soon you're at least made close to whole on the preferred... my problem is i have way too much exposure on the hotel side, i should've sold some of those a few days ago before this big takedown

today looks really ugly in the "back to normal" trade, all because a few fearmongers use a spike in the south (based on people being INSIDE due to the heat) to blame the end of lockdowns

Ouch. This is exactly why i prefer to find what I think will be profitable long term and just hold. Whenever I try and get cute or veer off course, this type of thing seems to happen. Hang in there, just a bump in the road.

Yup. It's why I got out of all penny's yesterday. Just did it one day too early. Airline stocks taking a hit pre-market. Some down nearly 20%. Ouch. Well, really most everything is taking a hit.

Seeing that now. I just saw the price and the % it went up and it didn't sink in. Makes me feel better although seeing all my other stocks pre-market this morning brings me back to feeling sick. What a rough week.

Could be. I think it will be more of a roller coaster effect for a little while where it goes up and down with more downs than up.

By the way, did purchase 12 shares of MRNA this morning. One stock with some good news. Moving forward on final phase of vaccine testing. Got it at 61. Up to 64 now.

Looking at analyst buy ratings, the top buys right now are Alibaba, Amazon, Viking, Moderna, Microsoft, DKNG, Plug Power, and VIS. Saw good news on Alibaba today.
