You can take any politician in history and say they could have or should have done more. More often than not, aside from the obvious partisan bias, those who cast these kinds of judgments would struggle to recite the Star-Spangled Banner if asked to.

Republicans would have given way more money to private companies than Obama did, that's what you don't get. Republicans used to win, over and over again, by playing the Machiavellian politics game perfectly - say the right things, do the exact opposite. Smart people were on to them from the beginning, but stupid people overwhelmed the smart people and repeatedly fell sucker to the Republican strategy, for years on end. This past time around though, there was too much obvious hypocrisy - in all ways, from anti-gay Republicans turning out to be gay, to anti-big govt Republicans turning out to be big government, etc etc, and on down the line, and enough stupid people finally saw the light about what was really going on to tip things the other way, which is why the Dems control everything now.

Sure, the lower taxes are, the better. Sure, the less government intervention, the better. Sure, free markets are the most efficient way to allocate resources. Sure, people shouldn't be gay. But what does any of that stuff have to do with Republicans??

Doesn't it seem hypocritical for the same people who were saying to give Bush more time regarding Iraq year after year after year to now be jumping all over Obama's back in less than six months in office?

The fact is that people like Newt are getting paid so say things to people that those people want to hear, to make themselves feel better about being Republicans. This type of thing has been going on for a long time and is meaningless when put into context. The fact is that is it too soon to know if Obama is failing or succeeding. The fact is that if Obama does succeed, all the naysayers will ignore how wrong they were and be onto something else to be angry at him for and will never learn their lesson about how silly and childish it is to blindly jump all over a president simply because of what party they represent.

Also, it is silly to state that people who criticize politicians wouldn't be able to recite the star spangled banner. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

But this guy is spot on about government trying to run businesses. It has never worked, and never will work. It is only an option when letting private enterprise run it is even worse (public utilities are inefficiently run, but probably better than having an unregulated monopolist utility running the show).

Incorrect.....she said it was the first time in a while she was "proud" of her country, she never ever said that she hated the country at any point.
