The armed guards standing frequently around town and outside of offices like CRIS was a part of that culture that really stood out to me. Nothing bad about it, just wasn't used to that, esp what appeared to be high powered, long barrel, semi auto weapons. I'm all for gun rights and self protection.

#75Originally posted by duritoColombia is the most pro-usa country in the world.
South American beef is vastly superior to that in the USA. They don't feed the cows steroids, antiobiotics or other cows down here.
I had a large juicy steak, potatoes, salad for lunch for $8. I had sushi for dinner last night for $20. Both would have been 3x and no better or worse in the USA. My health insurance is just as good and 20% of the cost. My girlfriend is 22 and gorgeous. Yea, I'll be heading back to the USA any day now.
Oh yea, I can use neteller, pinny, and every other book in the world.

#76I wouldn't say it isn't safe....just different. Different culture, different way of life, and different mentality. I am by no means an expert on other countries as I have been to only a few other than the U.S. but in my experience if you mind your business and don't try or go looking for problems you are generally pretty safe everywhere....I know there are exceptions but just my two cents...Comment -

There are many countries other than the USA that are "worth living in".
These same countries "worth living in" support the fallacy of America being the only good place to live in order to dissuade Americans from moving there and ruining things for everyone else.
Americans belong in America, the whole world agrees.
For the record, the weather in Canada is horrible and we rarely leave our residences, Canada is truly a terrible place.Comment -

#79I managed to sneak across the boarder into the USA once. It was the most beautiful and prosperous country I had ever seen.
The hamburgers are so cheap and delicious. You can get any sub at subway for 5$. A large pop is a full gallon. The beer is cheaper and much easier to drink, goes down like water. Americans are so friendly and helpful. People will gladly give you directions to anywhere you want to go. The air is is so fresh and you can walk into any neighborhood without ever having to fear for your life.
The day I was busted by immigration and deported was the worst day of my life. I am saving up every day to get snuck back in.
My American is getting good now too. I can't wait till I can once again leave this desolate frozen wasteland that is Canada and return to the land of the free.Comment -

#81Best thing the US has over Canada is mashed potatoes is standard fare to go with the chicken at KFC. We settle for french fries.
Must be a sore point with Plommer.Comment -

Many an American have commented about it while up here on vacation.
Sometimes the mashed taters are on the menu but I don't think it's become a permanent thing.......only offered on occasion. Too bad because fries aren't as good with chicken.Comment -
