Once again, I have never, ever said that guns should be illegal. I've owned many guns. I would fight for your right to own a gun.

But, I also know that our forefathers did not intend for us to own anti-aircraft guns, or high powered assault rifles, or bazookas, or any weapons of mass destruction. What's the answer? I don't know all the answers because it's a very difficult subject. You're talking about people being able to protect themselves as individuals but the community needs to be able to protect it's citizens. Plus you're also talking about basic privacy laws when you talk about trying to track these nuts.

I'd feel a lot safer if we'd go back when people owned just muskets.

I've been in several places where gun fire rang out. In every case, I ran my ass off. It isn't anything heroic in trying to stand up to gunman. 2 weeks ago my son and I was at the park when gun shots went off inside the park. We ran our ass off to the car and got the hell out of there in about 20 seconds. My son hesitated running to the car and said... "Daddy what was that". When we got out of there, I grabbed him by the arm and shook the hell out of him. I told him we don't ask questions, we run like hell when we hear gunshots.

Fortunately, he never ventured on our street. I have cameras all over the place, I can tell when anyone comes into our neighborhood and I have multiple weapons. So I feel pretty good that I'm at an advantage if anyone tries to enter my home.

But looking at how accurate this guy was shooting 5 blocks away. There's no way I could out shoot that guy from long range. I'm a pretty crappy shooter tbh.

Hunters spend all day waiting for a target to get within range and if they miss their whole day is ****** so they tend to be relatively accurate shooters. Shooting an individual in the chest with a .30 bullet from a rifle will in all likelihood instantly kill them. Rifles are not like handguns in that death is much more certain with a rifle bc of something called the blast radius (this has to do with the speed the bullet is traveling when it hits a target)...but again you do have to hit the target and if you're not a practiced shooter than I can understand your hesitation.

It sounds like you were a good distance away from the shooter anyway and would have had to have gone hunting him down which is certainly a dangerous proposition and not something I would recommend or engage in especially since the police are already engaging him and are practiced shooters themselves.

I've gone deer and turkey hunting with my cousins outside of Nashville many years ago and I use to go deer hunting a lot when I worked in South Carolina. I couldn't shoot for shit. I use to carry a .30-06 Sprg and would miss from 120 on the regular. I have itchy fingers. A friend of mine is a sheriff in Jacksonville and we'd shoot at the range with a laser sight. He could hold a pistol dead on, while I'd be shaking all over the place. It was embarrassing. Give me a shotgun

Well this is a problem I'm now worried Mac would more likely shoot me than the shooter in a critical situation...so aim at me and maybe you'll hit the shooter lol...I'm kidding of course.
