Considering all that could have gone wrong, these two men did VERY well. It seems that the only thing that prevented them from getting further away (they were NEVER going to be free!) was the wench that backed out... she gave her word and gave them hope.
Had she second-guessed herself a day or two BEFORE (which we all know that she did) AND COMMUNICATED to these two men her concerns, then at least they could have made other arrangements for a ride.
Or, she could have alerted law enforcement. Nope.
Do nothing about your mistake, show no redeeming qualities, show no remorse until you appear in court.

I don't understand why anyone here thinks once they got into Canada they'd be just fine. Does Canada's extradition policy state that stepping on Canadian soil and yelling "BASE" clears you from any charges you face in the US?? What's wrong with you guys?
Those white people riots were when things went their way IIRC, not when they didn't. Definitely a white people thing to riot when you're happy. Strictly a Canadian thing to do it after a hockey game.

that's what I was wondering about. specifically, other than perhaps preventing 1300 largely incompetent cops from following them into Canada, what good would crossing the border do? i'm pretty sure the Canadians wouldn't want to deal with these two pricks themselves, and would probably grant the 1200 or so barney fifes permission to follow the fleeing felons right on across the border.
Or, they'd deploy their own bacon-eating barney fifes to pick up where the incompetent americans left off.....Comment -

The critics are beyond clueless how densely wooded, vast and difficult the Adirondacks are to navigate. It's difficult just to walk through the terrain, let alone deal with all the insects, creeks, rain, etc...
