Trip to Vegas... Need Input & Help!

Me and 2 others are planning to make a trip to Vegas either during 2nd week of April or end of May not sure on the exact dates yet. I'm not big shot I'm a college student, but at the same time money really isn't an issue at the moment.

    I'm looking to take/spend anywhere from 8-10k.

I'm willing to lose whatever I take, but I also want to be able to get the best deal on a room so I can gamble & drink away more of the money

Where do you guys recommend that I should look into? I want everything to also be convient as possible the last thing I want is any hassles that aren't necessary so if that means spending more on the room/hotel then I'm fine with that.

Just figured most of you guys have made multiple trips out there, and can point me in the right direction.

i recommend the caesars great pool, resturaunts, good location. Also Wynn and Bellagio are first class. Buffet at Bellagio is delicious.

If you dont mind staying a little out the way Mandalay Bay has a pool that looks like a beach and a great casino. Palms is cool too and has some nice clubs to pick up some chicks.

Hard rock cafe has a huge pool party every sunday and is right next to hofbrahaus great german beer and pretzels.

Cheapest place to stay and gamble is hooters. $3 blackjack, $3 roulette. $20 rooms

You're in college, you're not going to be in your room that much, passing out and maybe fingerbanging some coug. Don't waste trip money on hotel, no need to get into a $300/night place, your focus should be on location. You want to be toward the nicer end of the strip, your cheap options are Bally's, Flamingo, Harrah's with Harrah's being the nicest of the three by far. Pretty nice rooms, decent restaurants, great prices and more importantly you're across the street from Mandalay, Caesar's, Bellagio...Venetian and Palazzo are right down the street etc. Other side of the strip will cost less than $10 in a cab, if you just have to see NY NY and the other 90s themed properties, less than $15 to Hard Rock, but it will cost around $22 to get downtown to Old Vegas.

The Nugget has really, really nice rooms for cheap money...but you're surrounded by sketchy downtown.

Thank you I was looking for a post like this to help me in the right way. Because like you mentioned I never plan on being in the room I was just worried about location and connivence to everything I'm going to look into those 3 you mentioned I was actually just about to look at Harrahs anyway because I think I found a decent deal on their rooms.

i'd stay at Planet Holleywood before I stay at Harrahs...both are the same "harrahs" brand so you should get the same deal at PH...younger crowd at PH versus Harrahs' which seems to have older, cheaper crowd

Why in the hell are you concerned over saving 25 or 50 bucks a night on a hotel?

Ceasars and Planet Hollywood are too expensive. The best/nicest Hotel for your money is going to be one of the MGM properties, MGM Grand or The Mirage. The Mirage is nice and right in the middle of everything.

    Casino Royale. Prime location.

Actually I am a huge fan of the Mirage for value, location, and gaming.

It's true in January I will have an extra 7k from my grant after paying my tuition books and rent

You only live once and this will be a trip I'll remember forever is the way I look at it

But after looking around I think I'm only going to have to spend around 3k tops which is nice and still have the time of my life

Try to get a suite at Planet Hollywood Towers. Spearmint Rhino stripper joint is great fun but I'd suggest bringing only enough cash as you are willing to spend because everyone I know who goes there spends every last cent they brought.

I agree with the dude that says your not in your room much, Location is more important and dont forget to go downtown, great times down there and everything is much cheaper than the strip

Yea don't waste money on a sick room, you won't be there at all. Harrahs is a great location and their rooms are clean and thats really all you need to worry about. Mirage is another good option but will be slightly more expensive. I know a lot of people who plan their trip and then the last night they get a suite or something just for pictures and to end the trip on an extra high, might be something to consider if you dont mind checking out and checking back into another hotel. Def check out downtown, most of the hotels have been renovated recently and everything is super cheap there. Also freemont is always full of street performers and theres some crazy bars not far from there, I personally like that area better than the strip which is just over priced and is all about getting you in, getting ur money and getting you out. Overall just be careful, too many people get into fights and get arrested and it ruins their whole trip. Anyway, have a great time theres no place like Vegas.
