P.S - how many jumbo drafts you spill during the game? Im usually good for 2 or 3... I always grab 2 beers and with only one cup holder I usually put the other under my seat.... you know how the rest goes.

#7555-9 is not very very bad.
Very very bad is when you go 2 - 12 and you have to leave Vegas for Reno with your tail between your legs.
Very very bad is like a country music song played backwards: Your pick-up truck gets fixed, your dog comes home, and you get back with your wife.
Proglr, you're a real prog. Go listen to the Troggs, they were very very good.
You're just a nudnik.
D2D, thanks for the picks. I'm going to save up my winnings and try to get a date with a girl who looks like your screen avatar. Is she climbing into a swimming pool in that shot or what? Also, does she need a license to walk around with a butt like that? Thanks again, D2D.
Say, what are the odds of Nets vs. Knicks in the Eastern Finals? Big night at the Barclay's Center.

#757Thank you velly much.
I got a million of those, by the way. Maybe we should have a contest, I'll post a few candidates to get it started. Note to D2D: Hope this doesn't catch on and get annoying, off-topic.
In the meantime:
Fourth Runner-up: Very very bad is when you lose your Russian super-model girlfriend to the corner bartender, and you have to replace her with the fat girl that works the desk at the tattoo parlor.
Third Runner-up: Very very bad is when it's been so long since you hit a winner, you think the Penguins still have some of the same players from their Stanley Cup teams.
Second Runner-up: Very very bad is when you fall so far you have to trade your season box at Yankee Stadium for a pair of nose-bleed seats for the Coney Island Cyclones.
First Runner-up: Very very bad is when you have to seriously consider (but not actually accept) taking a day job.
And, the Grand Prize Winner in the Opening Round of the Inaugural Episode of the "How bad do you have to be running to call it very, very bad?":
Very, very bad is when your neighborhood bookmaker buys you a beer and listens sympathetically to your hard luck story of missed foul shots and last-minute goals.
5-9 one day when you're running closer to 60 than 50% for weeks on every sport known to ESPN, and some that aren't (Hey D2D! My bm offered me a line on the national spelling bee final, I'm thinking to take the Chinese kid against the girl from Texas with pig-tails, who do you like, what's your read?), 5-9 one day after a run like that?
That's a speed bump, that's like a tiny pimple on the ass of Giselle Bunchen.
SBR Forum points from someone (I don't think I have any) to whoever wins the second round of "Very Very Bad is when" competition.
By the way, I do not think I set the bar very high with my five submissions. Here's one more:
Very, very bad, is when you turn on your computer to post to D2D's great thread, and you can't get on-line because your AOL account has been closed because you didn't have the twenty bucks to send 'em to keep it on.
5-9 is not very very bad!

Thanks again for the kind words and the thumbs-up, Sovereign.

PS: Looks like you got some time on your hands, Sov, maybe you could volunteer to be the judge of the "Very Very Bad" competition.Comment -

Very very bad is when D2D doesn't even know his record for the day before......very very bad is when D2D actully cringes when he turns on his computer to look.....very very bad is when D2D is worried more about the people tailing him than the fact that he lost $600 the day before.....very very bad is that D2D spent more than that in some crappy nightclub and doesn't remember getting back to his hotel at all....
You are right of course.....but somebody messed up the record, yesterday was actually 9-12 including everything......and a solid - $748.
Yesterday's recap:
Today:
9-12
- $748
Totals (67 documented days):
487 - 407 - 24
+ $ 9,873.60
Play of the Day:
28 - 15
+ $4279.93
So....this brings us below the $10k mark for profits and is a tough pill to swallow. Hopefully today is a better day!

#760Wow....thanks for saying that ruled, D2D, I appreciate it.
For some reason a quote from the Chicago left-wing neighborhood organizer from fifty years ago, Saul Alinsky is now lodged in my mind. Alinsky remarked at a gathering of his closest supporters when he was enjoying a brief period of acclaim in the local and national media something along these lines:
"Don't worry, guys, we'll weather this brief flurry of public acclaim and come out of it being more hated than ever!"
*****
If it's okay by you, I'll check your picks for today and tell you if there are any I disagree with, and why.
In the meantime, how's this?
Very very bad is when the pole-dancing Canadian strippers feel so sorry for you after you tell your tale of last-minute losses, they throw the coins back at you!
One more: Very, very bad is when you take 1 1/2 goals with the Penguins against the Flames at the Igloo (minus 20 to 1), and you get beat by an empty net shot by their goalie with seven seconds remaining.
5 and 9? I bet double the day after I go 5 and 9!

#764Buffalo: An Enigma Wrapped inside A Mystery
Hi D2D,
I like your list for tonight, I'm going to add the Rangers over the Sabres.
My reluctance to play them is this: 1) If I remember correct I think they are in a 3 out of 4 (nights) spot on the road tonight in Buffalo. 2) Scoring all those goals last night against the Panthers might have tired them out. 3) I think that Buffalo has won several games in a row, probably their longest winning streak of this mediocre season for them.
Against that, I saw this hilarious video satire a few weeks ago, just before the NHL trade deadline, suggesting that the Sabres were offering to unload any or all of their best players (and everyone else) at bargain basement prices.
IRL, I think they traded a few of their starters for prospects and draft picks, and then went on to win a bunch of games in a row after that.
Probably tonight they revert to their default state (bad hockey team).
As for the Rangers getting tired from making goals, it's probably more tiring to lose 6 - 1 then it is to win by that score.
BoL D2D, and thanks for the thread.
- OSP
PS: Sorry if I'm wrong about any of the scores or stats here, I refuse to let the facts get in the way of a good story.
Also, in the unlikely event that anyone cares, my intention with the title was to make reference to what I believe was a quote from US diplomat George Kennan, who said something along these lines about mid-twentieth century Russia: An enigma wrapped inside a mystery wrapped inside a conundrum.
On second thought, maybe it was Churchill, not Kennan.
I probably skipped that class in high school to go to the track instead.
That is all. ( - Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada)Comment -

#767I am going to cut back my MLB plays immediately dollar-wise. It is quite clear to me that I am not finding an edge here like I am in some other sports. At first I attributed it to some bad luck but I do not feel that way today. Not only have I been on the wrong side I am getting killed in a lot of these games and it seems that my teams are never coming back and getting into these games.
While I am excited for the NBA and NHL post seasons, I am going to lose a large part of my edge there because every team is up for every game and finding teams that are going to have 'off nights' is my capping strategy.
I will post plays tomorrow, but again, it may be time to tail only where you feel comfortable with the picks.Comment -

#770Its weird timing you had with saying you are going to reduce a bit from MLB. I was actually thinking the same thing right when you posted it, that I may lay off following on the baseball games (or do so at a reduced unit).
I think baseball is got a lot of luck in it, and is very hard to cap for. Where I feel Tennis, basketball, hockey, football are much better sports for trying to predict in. Be interesting if you had a breakdown of your overall record with each sport.
Seasons come around quick (and time in general). Do you cap for College basketball, college football?Comment
