Not sure why you think a Canadian team is due to win. It's not like the players on the teams are all Canadians. Needless to say a team with a lot of North American players will win though.
As for the Oilers, even with a semi-competent goalie, they don't have the physical strength to win enough playoff games. Veteran defensemen will absolutely destroy them in the corners and in front of the net, kids won't know what hit them.
I think the team that wins it this year will be the team with the roster most similar to the past few seasons. With such a short season there will be almost no time to develop chemistry so you are going to go with what you know.
VAN is still too soft, MIN and NYR will need more time to gel as a team, I'd go with PIT, CHI, or BOS to win it. Maybe even DET but with the loss of Lidstrom, not sure how the patch up that big of a hole in such little time. Will need Howard to be a Vezina winner to get it done.Comment -

They've done alot to add character & grit, acquiring guys like Troy Brouwer and Joel Ward. Ovy, Backstrom et al. feeded from those guys' emotion in their Round 1 upset vs Boston and in Round 2 vs NYR.
