This will keep happening and it shouldn't be that big of a surprise to anyone. Bernie Madoff and others like him have been scamming affluent members of society that they have known and had friendships with. The fact that sports books in other countries scams gamblers from time to time out of 1k-100k depending on the kind of player you are is not surprising. It will continue to happen plain and simple.
