#38Originally posted by RogueScholarWhy would I need more? I'm on the home team, in extremely poor weather, the visiting team is coached by a member of the home team's coaching tree, and Matt Cassel is finally learning the ropes of starting. Betting the NFL is a crap-shoot, and I'd rather not overthink things. I'm not advising that anyone else use my rationale, just adding my two cents to the mix.Comment -

#41NE is the play here. Watched the entire first game with the same players and NE dominated from start to finish. Will be no different in Foxboro. I really don't mind putting my money in the hands of Bill BellicheckComment -

#42After reading this, it seems apparent that there are two schools of thought on being on the Pats side.
1) Favre will screw it up
2) The Jets are too public
Barely a mention of Adalius Thomas being out, the Pats being down to Benjarvis Green-Ellis and maybe Kevin Faulk to run the ball, a shaky Matt Cassell whose favorite weapon will be absolutely blanketed by a very, very good CB (Revis-who held Moss to 2-22 in their first game), and a Pats secondary that lacks the opportunistic, ball-hawking ways of old, better Pats teams. Barely a mention of a very good RB duo on the other side with Washington playing the lightning to Jones's thunder. The Jets have better personnel on both sides of the ball and have the better special teams to boot. By all means, hop on the Pats at home angle and hope it pays off. I just can't imagine any rational discussion of this game that simply ignores the fact that this Jets team has better personnel on the field at all times. That special teams edge could be huge tonight. Like all games played in sloppy conditions (assuming this one gets that way), the game will be decided on special teams and turnovers. Best of luck to all. I understand the need to have two sides here but when one side is betting because A) he's fading the public or B) he thinks that Brett Favre is going to give the game away then I think there is more to be discussed.Comment -

Also, to those that argue that Brett Favre didn't know the playbook back then. It was Matt Cassell's FIRST game starting since high school. He managed the game and Bellicheck out smarted Mangini once again.

#70Which Jet's team shows up? The last two weeks or the one who lost to Oakland and barely got by the Chiefs? Everyone also thought the Broncos where just going to show up and knock off the Pats in Foxboro a few weeks ago. This is definately a tought one to call. I love taking the points but also hate to bet against the Pats at home, primetime game on national TV. So I dont knowComment
