DEF Jets best defense last 2 weeks vs Thomas (out): Advantage Jets

Favre knows the team now and he is in command. On 2nd week he barely knew players names and practiced only for 2 weeks. The Jets defense is facing an undrafted QB named Cassel and an undrafted RB named Green-Ellis with the only ones knowing they are in NFL are their parents. Adalius Thomas is out and noone can stop the run or the pass for Patriots.

What do you think about NYG-6.5? Could have a letdown but Baltimore is so banged up and Flacco could finally slip up even though they keep it simple for him. GMen stack 8 man line and force him to pass? Maybe I am wrong but they look too good even when they're slightly off.

Yep. Any time I hear "monsoon-like conditions" for a game in which I already liked the Under, I know that I'm going heavy. I keep putting action on this game and tying in various other wagers to the Under or the teased Under (49). I'm getting silly here.

It might be interesting to note the pats have the best record in the nfl against divisional opponents, they are controlling the balls a lot more, since 2001 when leading at halftime there 75-1 (somethin to watch on the halftime lines maybe?), and mangini is 1-5 against the pats so far, im worried about adalius thomas being injured and pierre woods stepping in but i think pats will control the clock with short passes to welker, some running, albeit jets have a good run defense, and i think ty law is going to be a liability in this game if the jets actually play him. Hes old and you cant just come into the nfl and play against good receivers like welker and moss, they better stick him on gaffney and hope for the best. Patriots are also least penalized team in the league, jets have kicker issues, i dont see why you guys are chooosing the jets, although i think the under is the play even if it wasn't raining

Good breakdown. A lot of this boils down to coaching and turnovers as most games do, the skill disparities between both teams is balanced enough overall to where this will be a chess match not a slug fest.

Mangini's record against the Pats is alarming but lets keep in mind the Jets have never been this good in recent years and the Pats have always had Brady. Belichick>Mangini, though.

You only pay if they lose. I think everyone is in love with the Jets this week because of last week's mega blowout of the Rams. I strongly feel they come back to reality tonight.

If I can play devil's advocate for a second... To everyone playing the "fade the public" angle, take a good look at what last Sunday's Tennessee-Chicago game taught us: The sharps don't win 'em all.

I'll go so far as to say that the Jets have the better rushing offense, passing offense, special teams, rushing defense and passing defense. New England has the home field and coaching advantages. Poor weather hurts New England more than the Jets in my mind, as it semi-neutralizes the crowd, puts more pressure on a career backup QB than on a QB that's played in this stuff many times over, and plays to the strong o-line of the Jets and their versatile running game. I'm going with the popular play here, but this game was a "stay-away" game for me until this weather came into play. I leaned NYJ and Under but I'm full throttle now. That Adalius Thomas injury is a killer for New England and I don't have much good to say about their personnel this season. Will Belichek trust Cassel to throw deep to Moss? Will he trust him to throw intermediates to Welker? How good is Darrelle Revis? I think the answers to those three questions are: 1.No, 2.yes, but it could be costly, and 3. good enough to take away a playmaker in a sloppy game.

Why would I need more? I'm on the home team, in extremely poor weather, the visiting team is coached by a member of the home team's coaching tree, and Matt Cassel is finally learning the ropes of starting. Betting the NFL is a crap-shoot, and I'd rather not overthink things. I'm not advising that anyone else use my rationale, just adding my two cents to the mix.

i like pats. Matt seems to be getting better and better, the only concern is how does he perform with short rest. Thursday night at home is huge. this is like a TD, so if they play at a neutral field, i'd think the spread would be jets -4

I love the Jets in this game, especially with the rain. If conditions get sloppy enough this will be a closer scoring game, making a Jets cover even more possible
