Some interpretation if I may.

Archie was brand new to forums when he came here. With that comes a bit of excitement and a spirit of discovery. That was reflected in his posting.

But Archie is intelligent. After awhile intelligent people inevitably find that forums are not. Certainly there are little bits that are good and intelligent people can find niches for themselves if it is important enough to them, but in the big picture, forums are repetitive and stupid and pretty pathetic. They are full of lies and people dumb enough to believe them. You've got people begging for 63 cents. You've got people who can see the same joke every day for a hundred years and still think it's funny every time.

Over time, it starts to hammer you. It is disappointing. It wears down an intelligent person.

I am not meaning to put words in Archie's mouth but I remember him saying something about how the forum cycles were becoming repetitive for him. As someone who has been around forums for some years, I can relate.
