I also, think the 'under' for the second half makes sense. Had a ton of turnovers and some very big plays in the first half. So, my suggestion is a modest wager taking the 'under' at 24 -110 as listed at BoDog.

Did you all see the 49ers last two defensive alignments? three down linemen, a linebacker lined up in the DE position and then seven defensive backs, 2 of which were man corners. The 49ers are forcing Brees to go to the perimeter, which worked perfectly for the TD, but the 49ers are using the out-of-bounds line as the 12th defender.

I also believe you will see Alex Smith do a pump and go. The Saints are over reacting to the first sign of pass and starting to jump routes.
This means that TE Davis will be in man coverage down the middle and no one on the Saints can defend him or out leap him for a ball. So, Smith pumps a down-and-out route adn then throws a high long pass down the seams to let Davis run under the ball.

However, the 49ers have established the run and the defense has stemmed the tide of the 14 unanswered Saints points.. A bit strange though that it is the same score as last week for the Saints. I think the 49ers win because they have dominated the line of scrimmage consistently.. Brees has already thrown for close to 30 times with NO RUN SUPPORT... I can't remember anything like this except for perhaps the 2004 NFC Playoff game where the Giants led 38-10 with 5:00 left in the third quarter against the 49ers and the 49ers came back to win... This game was far different in the big plays by both teams, but the intensity was the same.. AMAZING!... so how much much does the BCS playoff format matter now? ha ha ha

well i have to gloat a little on today

i had 3 player props total on todays games..

1. Sproles Over 85.5 combined rushing/recieving +120 (needed 28 ytards with 4 min. left, til 44 yard TD)
2. wes welker gets a TD +120 ( won less than 2 min. into game)
3. magahee gets a TD +180 ( won early 2nd Q)

just started playing underdog player props a few weeks back and its FUN...while im getting lucky anyways

Good stuff Mike. way to go.. I just hope this 10* on the Patriots covers. I am glad i don't have -14... Backdoor even at 28-14 is still there.. but I do have this game at 13 1/2 so that is better of course.

John, I read the writeup you posted Friday picking Green Bay -7.5 and was struck by this:

"In last week’s win, the Giants lost cornerback Aaron Ross to a concussion and safety Deon Grant to a groin injury. This is another significant loss to a vastly depleted Giants defensive secondary. The Giants have been using what is called a ‘Big-Nickel’ scheme in passing situations. This variation of the nickel, that is comprised of five defensive backs, involves three safeties, that essentially split the field into thirds and at different depths. And I'm thinking ... huh? Ross was cleared to play last Wednesday, and both he and Grant have been practicing and are probable for Sunday. So I'm wondering, what exactly was "another significant loss" and why you call the Giants secondary "vastly depleted?"

Am I missing something?

Written before the news announcement. But, the Giants secondary is still suspect and Rogers is great at finding seams. TheGiants MUST be successful with the BIG NICKEL package to win this game. Even with those aforementioned names playing, I doubt if they are even 90%. So, watch the Giants defense adn see how many times they use the BIG Nickel today in the first half and it will give us something to review at the half.

I have to admit, I am bamboozled why the public is taking the DOG.. It certainly makes the books look smart right now, especially letting the price slide to it's current level. Isn't Brady and New England identical with Rogers and Lambeau?

Absolutely, I know this is after game time, but I can't remember ever NOT making a play because of late minor shifts in the line. I think sometimes we get too miopic with last minute approaches to who we are going to bet.. With my plays, always get what your line is.. The premise is that when the play is correct, the line will never be a problem and most of the winning plays are convincing. Hope this helps

Lombardi just jumped out of his grave after that 'miscue' ... what the hell is going on out there? That score makes winning both the 10* Packers play and '5* UNDER pretty difficult to win.

However, the giants have a history of getting very conservative with the lead in the second half.

i think you have to take the Packers for the second half, but they are in such disarray right now I wonder if they can turn it around. Playing at home will be a big boost...... I'll add a 5* GB -7 -120 for the second half
