Although some people might not think so, when you ask the players in the league about LT they stil say he is an elite back..
I do think that LT is still a great back, so long as he plays in a "martyball" run type of offense, and that's exactly what the Jets utilize under their OC, Brian Schottenheimer. I think LT will be revitalized this year, since he will be playing under the same system of offense as the Chargers did in 06.

On the field, the defense has played against this guy for so long that they had to respect LT's game. You'd be a fool not to. He really opened up a lot of the passing game for Rivers last year despite what the stats show.
True, he did open up the passing game for Rivers, but I'm thinking that the combination of Sproles and Matthews might produce this same level of respect from the defense, and thereby open up the passing game for Rivers, maybe not exactly the same level of respect, but close enough. Rivers can pass it to Sproles on screens, or he can hand it to Matthews to run it up the gut.

SD will have anotehr solid season only they will fall apart in the first round of the playoffs. That "dynasty" is slowly coming to an end, and if nothing happens this year, Gates will leave and that team will fall apart.
In the playoffs under Norv, they are 3-3 SU, so one never knows which Charger team will show up. It's not like a guarantee that they will fall apart, I mean, they did manage to win 3 playoff games under Norv. The real issue with the Bolts is their inconsistency in the playoffs, not their failure.

As far as their "dynasty", I disagree that it is slowly coming to an end, and that's because of Rivers. Rivers has extended the window for San Diego, and this window will stay open as long as Rivers remains healthy and playing. What has ended in San Diego is the reliance on Tomlinson to make the SB, but what remains open is the reliance on Rivers to make the SB.

Ok but Rivers doesn't have pieces. Sproles will get eaten by the Jets, Ravens in the playoffs. He doesn't open it up for rivers because Sproles is a rb that likes goin with screens you just have to watch him in the flats, Ravens ate sproles last season man. You think a rookie is gonna do anything big in the playoffs with SD's pitiful D and Norv Turner the worst coach?

I think Matthews will be alright for SD in the regular season and playoffs, and should get better over the next few years. As far as Norv as a coach, considering that he's 32 - 16 in the regular season with the Bolts, and 3 -3 in the their playoff games, I'd hardly call him the "worst" coach!

come on netinfo, SD has had the best pure talent in the league for years and all of them were at their prime when Norv took over. Is there any justifiable reason for why Tomlinson wasn't in the game in key moments in the playoffs?

What about the plays the idiot is calling in the jets game. This guy is the worst coach and can't even motivate his players. That's why SD will never win a SB if they keep bringing in coaches with that mentality. They are not a true collective unit either. You need to be a real team, like the Saints were this year, like the Jets were. That is gone with LT not there.

Yes, LT was injured. A knee injury during the 07-08 playoffs, and a groin injury during the 08-09 playoffs. There is not much a coach can do when a key player is injured. LT was finally healthy for the 09-10 playoffs against the Jets, but he didn't do much there, going 24 yards on 12 carries, with no TDs.

The Jets game was a disaster, and I do agree that Norv made some poor calls in that game. It's gonna be weird watching the Bolts play this year without LT, but we'll see how things turn out.
