#37Seriously, Nate Washington is the perfect example of being overvalued because he was signed as a free agent off of a Super Bowl winning team. I loved some Nate and he finally did his thing, kind-of, after a whole lot of nurturing and finally learning the offense. I hope he does well, not so much tomorrow, but he might as well be lumped into the Larry Brown, Ed Hartwell, Alvin Harper, Dexter Jackson category. The ring doesn't make the player Super, it's the team and the scheme baby!Comment -

#38And I am a bit biased, but the Steelers are going to put it to the Titans tomorrow. They didn't have many weaknesses last year, but the punt and punt return game were two big ones and they have upgraded those big time. Throw in the stomping on the towels in Nashville last year. These guys are primed and ready. Just my take. I'm a fan, but I'm also an informed one. I'll let you know when they are ripe for the picking as well. It's just not gonna be this week is all.Comment -

#39(2x) titans +5 - while i dont feel the titans will make the playoffs in 2009, i think they catch the steelers in a good spot post superbowl victory.
(1x) ravens -9 - early in the season i like to fade teams with new qb's and play teams with the same core players. expect kc to take a few weeks to get in sync with cassell, bowe etc (post TG era)
(2x) texans -4 - the texans will be one of the more fun teams to watch in 2009 - loaded on offense with the same core players of schaub, aj, daniels and the emerging slaton. sanchez is an autofade until he covers for me.
(2x) under cards 47 - i expect mike singeltary to bring a defensive/grind it out focus to the 49ers - they will lean heavily on frank gore and the cards are focused on running more in 2009 (that plan wont last for long)
(3x) packers -3 - rodgers and the pack return a high octane offense while the bears have new leadership under cutler. again, expect some growing pains with the new qb situation in chi.Comment -

#43They weren't the best line in history, but they were pretty damn good. Good enough for a Super Bowl ring anyway. Now, I'm not sure where you are basing your "opinion" but I'm assuming it is sack total. Ben holds the ball FOREVER and takes a lot of sacks just trying to make a play. You should and probably do realize that, just as you probably realize no team has ever won the title with an O-line that "sucks."
That said, other than the Steelers, I'm leaning:
Atlanta -4
Line is off because of the Fins making the playoffs last season. That was a fluke. Matt Ryan will torch them.
Jets +4.5
Although I like Schaub and think the Texans may win, 4.5 is too much to give a Rex Ryan defense.
Seattle-8.5
Who'syourdaddy gives them what they need to click, at least against the pourous Rams.
Vikings -4
Adding this because after looking and thinking this over, see below...Comment -

#44There is a reason, check that, many reasons the Brownies are a home dog. The Vikings are so much better than the Browns. Why else would Mangini resort to not announcing his QB? That's not exactly the tactics of a confident coach with a talented team. There is a reason, check that, many reasons the Brownies are a home dog. AP being the biggest. Favre might not be the QB of 5 years ago but he is not going to have to be because there will be single coverage everywhere and he knows this offense in his sleep. Throw in the Vikings stout D and I smell sucker bet.Comment -

#49who's the public all over today?
ravens (71%)
eagles (68%)
bengals (77%)
vikings (82%)
saints (70%)
cowboys (79%)
*im gonna watch for movement the other way in these games today and may make an RLM play or 2 (except for balt which i played). If there is one sport you'd wanna fade the public, its the NFL.Comment -

#50Ok I have 2 early plays today... First one are the Ravens -13, best defense and they will just crush the Chiefs... But the play I like the most is Ind -6.5, best D player out, but a new headcoach, they will play superb ball today and win it by 10...
late play to follow... So far I like ARZ and NYG, ARZ had a really bad preseason, but thats a trap right there and everyone thinks the 49ers D is improved, but ARZ will find a way to score and win by 2 TD today...

#55(2x) jags +7 - the jaguars are 4-0-1 ats the last 5 games in indy. this one comes down to the wire.
(2x) 49ers +6 - i have very high hopes for the 49ers this year, and not so high hopes for the defending nfc championships. why not take the 6 points factoring in that sf is 4-1 ats last 5 in arz?Comment -

I'm a diehard iggles fan too....I see a high scoring game and an outright Carolina win.....they will miss Dawking, Johnson and Stewart Bradley....throw in the Vick and Shawn Andrews distraction and Andy Reid's teams notoriously start slow....Carolina was undefeated in the regular season last year @ home...Comment -
