keno Davis will have the boys revved up to snap back from the humiliating loss on national tv friday night, and they are still on the road trip.. so have done nothing but dwell and fester over the WV debacle.. taking the Friars to come out hot and hungry.. and keep it very close to the finish if not win.
West Virginia -2.5 hook to -2 hosting Purdue.. ok it's -3 now. Look for WV to continue having success on defense with their screens and blocking the passing lanes. They also have good paint presence and the home court advantage.
St. John's -3 hosting Notre Dame .. ND is something to fear at home, but this is in MSG.. St John's is more than capable of outscoring ND today. steve Lavin and Gene Keady have made this group of seniors a premier force in the Big east again, and brought CBB back to NY so to speak.
Valparaiso +2 @ Detroit.. it's 1.5 but I bought the hook. Just because I never take +1. Be clear, I expect Valpo to win. They are the superior team. Much like Butler handled Detroit, Valpo is a smart team that holds it together.. very gritty and always on the ball. they will of course want this game as it is in the division.. and I don't think Detroit is a very reliable outfit.
Marist +22 @ Iona.. ok.. i get an extra point on Marist (i get an extra point for two CBB teams season long at VIP).. and bought 1.5 to +25. Go ahead and perhaps buy to 23 or 24 - or if you're a stickler about not buying points then just take the 22. (it's not 22.5 anymore).. why ?
because Marist is improving. I watched them play Loyola and they are much healthier this year, they seem to be putting in serious effort especially on man-to-man defense. The mentality seems to be keep playing and executing, regardless of the score.. which has narrowed their loss margins.
St. Bonaventure +7.5/8 @ Rhode Island.. URI was showing me NOTHING this year until they just defeated Richmond on friday night.. but they are back home now.. I think they probably partied their asses off after that win.. they never beat Richmond @ Rich before. I know for fact some of the guys on URI puff and #20 puffs before every game for nerves. But this is not a URI fade play.
it's a pro-Bonnie play.. Bonnies are very adept offensively.. this is their best shot in years to make serious waves and perhaps even make the tournament. The types of teams they have struggled against are big schools with big thug ballers. URI ain't fitting that category. bonnie can go head-to head and win this game. but take the points just in case everything is falling for URI.
Butler -4 @ Wright .. ok Wright is a scrappy team with one white kid that leads the scoring.. i have watched them play numerous times.. but Wright is not the kind of team butler will have too much problems with.. Butler has been trying to get their shit together all season.. and surely may need
to win the Horizon to make the dance. They can do it. Look what they did to Cleve St. Unless Butler has a horrible game, they got this one. Wright is not a superior athletic product.
Washington -7 @ California.. without Randle this year, Cali is a greatly reduced offensive group. I don't think they can hang with the shotmaking of Washington.. the spread is a big-school home court fake line and has nothing to do with basketball. IMO. Feel free to tease this down or ML but the -7 is not too high.
If Wash is not up by 9+ at the end, the late fouling from Cali should seal the line.

I think the Butler/Wright State line is very sharp, Snow.

I'd lean Wright State just because I like to give the home team the benefit of the doubt with the points. Same goes for Cal. Both Washington and Butler might win, but I highly doubt both cover.
