Australia -7 (-110)
The Opals face France today. Both teams won by double digits in their openers. Australia did a good job playing against the crowd in beating Great Britain. Now, they should be more settled. France actually beat Australia by six in a pre-olympic meeting, but that was without Lauren Jackson and another key big. I think that loss has the Opals focused today.

Looks like we are splitting this morning's O-Face plays. Aussies committed a few too many turnovers, but really in holding France to a low shooting percentage you would have figured would have shown better. Looking @ the USA game later - that will be it for today if there's anything there.

I had not looked at that game at all. Sorry I couldn't help. Actually looking @ GB & Canada instead. USA lines are so out there, it's difficult to predict.

7.30.12: (Women) Great Britain +3.5 [-110]
This game could come down to the officiating. When Canada is allowed to play their aggressive style of defense, they can be absolutely stifling. These two teams met twice in June in preseason action. GB win the 1st game, 70-57 before dropping the next one, 63-50. The difference? 31 FTAs in the win, nine in the loss. One would hope the GB coaching staff realized the significance and tries to be aggressive on offense to work foul calls. I don't necessarily expect any sort of home cooking, but I do think the Brits will get to the line if they take the right approach and that should help keep the game tight. If they shoot well overall, it's not out of the question that they pull off the upset.

My book doesn't have it, but I see Australia-Spain 2nd half @ 77. Under, but not overly strong on that as both teams could improve their shooting.

I wanted to wait to play half time of this Nigeria-Lithuania game, but I did not understand why Nigeria was +9.5 given that they beat this team about three weeks ago. Seemed too stupid to be a good idea.

This is going to have to be some sort of record for ineptitude. Wow. 11-4 after 1st Q. Brazil is 2/19 from the field. GB a whopping 3/15. Think I will definitely stick to 2nd halves today. The shooting in these games so far has been terrible today, but of course as soon as you think it's unders all over someone will come out and light it up later on.

Of course now the offense comes. One pathetic quarter though already killed any legit chance this over had outside of getting some OT action. Even this quarter may barely sniff around 40 which is what was needed to give an over a shot per quarter.

Looks like another scoring drought to kill another play. Only eight points scored between the 5:15 mark and 1:15 mark. Plus missed FTs and for some reason GB let Brazil run 20 seconds of clock down by five with :31 left before they fouled. So pretty much, :11 left and need one basket to get the 2nd half over .... or not and it's a painful loss. Guess which one happens ...
