Historically, Amare has dominated Gasol and the Lakers. In the past, Phil Jackson has gone as far as to triple team Amare back in his PHX days to get the ball out of his hands. Gasol hates defending face-up PFs and as long as this game stays competitive, Amare should drop 25+. Play 26: Hawks +1 -110 Risk $330 to win $300
I believe the Hawks are playing their 4th game in 5 nights and the Rockets are playing their 3rd in a row. I think the fatigue will affect the Hawks a bit more, but even with the fatigue, this just seems like a bad matchup for the Rockets. Houston has dominated this matchup in the past but that was when they had a much better team and I think this Rockets team is pretty bad. McHale is fooling around with starting buddinger at SF and with Jordan Hill most likely getting the nod at C those are two playing that can be exposed defensively. Buddinger might be good for a couple of threes but he will give up easy buckets on the defensive end. Today he has to deal with Marvin Willliams, an athletic F that's starting to develop a decent jump shot. At the 2 you have JJ and Kevin Martin. Martin is streaking right now but his defense is laughable as well. JJ is probably the strongest 2 guard in the NBA and he'll be able to expose Martin's lack of strength, especially in the post.
Luis Scola will be guarded by both Josh Smith and Al Horford. In basketball, you don't just match up every position with one another, there are defensive adjustments that are made, and I actually expect Jordan Hill to try and guard the more athletic F in Josh Smith and Scola to guard Horford. If McHale puts the mistake of putting Scola on Josh Smith he is dooming himself from the start. Jordan Hill is an offensive liability and his presence should make Josh Smith a roaming defender in this game which could be dangerous for Houston.
Kyle Lowry is a stud. He's on his way to a top 5 PG in this league. His matchup with Teague is pretty interesting. Both guys are playing very well right now and I don't see fatigue being an issue today for either. The problem with Lowry is that Smith/Horford will get the opportunity to roam the paint area tonight with Jordan Hill being a non-threat, making Lowry's job a little tougher.
I like Houston bench in this matchup. Dragic is a good pg and he's the only guy that scares me. They have more all around scorers that can get going, but I really like ATL's starters in this game. Also McGrady is returning to Houston today. He will play 25 or so minutes in this game and I expect him to do well. 5 assists and 10 points off the bench. Zaza is good for 6 points and 8 rebounds. And I think Pargo and Radmonovic will provide a pretty good spark off the bench.
Overall it seems as though aside from ATL's pg's they just have a bunch of 6'7 long athletic guys and Houston does not have the defensive personnel. I don't even see anyone on Houston that's going to be able to guard Mcgrady off the bench at 6'8 and PG abilities.
The way the line has moved suggests that Houston might be the play but I'm not buying it. Everyone's learning a lot the beginning of the season and I believe that Hawks have the advantage in this matchup.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -
I think Houston is a bit better than you're giving them credit for, but as you say, the overall athleticism of Atlanta is going to be tough to overcome today. I think the 4-in-5 vs 3-in-a-row makes it a no play though. Good luck.Comment -

No detailed writeup for this game. Ellis is out and we're talking about a top 5 sg in the game and a GS team that just likes shooting jump shots. With that sore foot I don't see Curry wanting to do much more than settle for long range jumpers and having to guard a huge pg in Holliday on the defensive end will be a nightmare for a scrawny guy like Curry. I like the 76ers to play disciplined on the perimeter defensively and the only way I can see GS winning this game is pounding the ball inside. They just don't have an athletic enough big men to take advantage of Philly's weak interior D. Thad Young and Turner both only played 20 min last night as well. 2 bench guys that are easily starters in this league.
