WNBA 6/3/11

My first bet of the WNBA season and we're going to keep the unit size very light until every team has played about 7-10 games. My specialty is totals and I really like the under in this game. Unfortunately, after opening at 162.5, it's already down to 157 and even 156.5 at Pinny. All the value has been sucked out of this under before I could get it, so we are going to leave it alone. It looks like a lot of books are starting to go back up to 3.5, so if you like LA you should get on them now. Yes, Maya Moore is a beast...is that ok to say? Well, she is a beast but so is Candace Parker and I just think LA has the lenghth, athleticism and home court to get it done tonight. Parker, Jones and Lavender should use their size and muscle up down low against the Lynx. I think Parker comes out so motivated because of the injury that she just dominates the game tonight. I'm rolling with LA for a small 0.25x. Good luck.

No day games in MLB...woo hoo! It's so much better when I don't have time to rush my capping process to get everything done early with day games. Let's just see where these lines take my early leans.
I see a few more potential 3x-5x plays for today. Don't be surprised to see more of those higher staked plays from me in the MLB. Historically, I keep the stakes low (0.50x-1.5x range) for the first two months of the season until I can get a good handle on such things as trends, player/team tendencies, umpires leans, surprise rookies or surprise players in general, good teams/bad teams, team line movement trends, etc. Usually, around June, I start making more bigger plays in the 2x-5x as the season starts picking up steam and my read on each team improves. Once we hit mid-July, you will start seeing big plays in the 5x-10x range as the playoff races round into shape (playoff races generally provide great profit on totals). We will have a big rebound day today after yesterday's strange MLB debacle.
I can't believe that every single MLB game yesterday went over the posted total and actually went way over as they all had over 10 runs scored (except for AZ/Wash which had 7 runs). What was the common denominator that resulted in all of yesterday's MLB games sailing over the posted total with more than 10 runs scored in each? All games went over 10 runs despite some really good pitchers on the mound. Just look at the three unders we lost yesterday. Shields gives u 6 in 4 innings -- worst outting of the year. Both Maholm and Pelfrey have their worst outtings of the year as well. Stauffer and Norris also get knocked around. If we can pinpoint what the common trend/theme/stat, etc., was between all of yesterday's MLB games, we could find something to add to add to our capping arsenal. I have a feeling there is a common situational trend at play here. To be continued....Comment -

One of my locals opened up at 187.5 and the other at 188 so I had to jump all over the under at 188 because I don't think we will see 188 in this series from here on out. The intensity of game 3 will be off the charts with each team knowing the winner takes firm control of the series and has a great chance to win a ring. Kind of confused by the Indian pick. Cleveland has lost 4 of Mastersons last 5 starts (only getting 1.4 rpg in runs support in these games) and he's coming off a rough outing where his control was an issue. Also, Texas has not been kind to him in the past. Ogando is also coming off his worst start of the season, but is a better pitcher than Masterson and is getting much better run support. I'm on the Rangers RL.
Love the Marlins and Orioles though.Comment -
I like masterson and the indians to put up a good fight at home and to rebound from yesterdays loss. I don't put much stock in Mastersons struggles in years past against texas because he and the indians are improved this year and previous matchups don't account for such improvement. I expect a good performance tonight from justin. Yes, he got shelled by tb in his worst outting of the year a few days ago. However, he also got shelled by tb on 5/12 but bounced back on 5/18 to go 8 innings and only give up one run. I like ogando, but not in this situation on the road. I have some more thoughts on this game, but am leaving work now and can't lay everything out from my phone. I will try to get the rest of my reasons for this play posted up before game time. Ugh...some bad mlb calls taking square over plays, losing faves and crap dogs. Add to that a premature lock by taking the mavs/heat under too early causing a loss of at least .5 in value, and I am having a bad day. I've been on the money anticipating the total line moves during the entire playoffs, but I completely misread this one. I thought the under would get hit by early money and it seems I was wrong.

Everything points over in this one. Line movement with rlm, trends with these two teams playing to the over 8 straight in boston and common sense with boston hitting so well. However, I'm going to take a shot with the under here. I've had the worst two day run in mlb of my life as i lost every single play yesterday and 3 of 4 two days ago so you may want to fade or at least lay off this one. I just like this pitching matchup and think it will stay under. However, the line movement says otherwise. Sometimes you need to go with your gut though. I guess we will see. And don't worry, I'm not on tilt. I just like the under here regardless of the factors pointing in the opposite direction. Back later. Good luck.Comment
