Charlotte is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 at home against Memphis. Memphis beat Charlotte by 33 in Memphis earlier this season and that was less than a month ago. In that game Memphis was an -8.5 favorite. Charlotte of course has made a coaching change since then and seem to be playing a bit better, but they will still be without their best player, Gerald Wallace and their center Nazr Mohammed.

Charlotte has been trying to play a more aggressive, running type style of offense under their new coach, most noticeably in the increase of production from PG DJ Augustin, who is averaging 18 points and 6 assists over his last 5 games. We may look at this and say Charlotte is improved under their new coach and offensively they are, but the 4 games they have won under their new coach are against Detroit, Minnesota, Cleveland and Washington, who may be the four worst teams in the league.

Memphis is obviously a much better caliber team and come into this game playing much better of late. Match up wise, there is a huge disparity in talent between the two teams. Without Wallace, Memphis should abuse Charlotte inside with Randolph and Gasol against the undersized Boris Diaw and Kwame Brown. Even Grizzlies big men like Thabeet and Arthur should be able to have productive games in this one. Without Wallace, Charlotte will also struggle to stick with Rudy Gay, who put up 23 points in their last game. Charlotte relies heavily on Stephen Jackson for their scoring, who has been averaging 25 PPG since the coaching switch, but will have a tough time against OJ Mayo, who is one of the league's best perimeter defenders.

The simple facts are that this new style the Bobcats have been playing may be more effective for poor defensive teams or teams that can't run, but Memphis is actually a better ranked defensive team than Charlotte this season. The Grizzlies are more athletic and more talented and are better at playing the fast paced style than Charlotte is.

Barring some sort of injury during the game or the refs trying to take over with fouling, I don't see Charlotte staying in this game.
