There is only one option for this particular game and its the OVER. Let's look at the scoring of the Magic since playing their first home game following the trade. 105, 123, 86 (vs boston), 104, 110. This new-look Magic team is run and gun and is NOT known for their effort on the defensive end. Meanwhile, the Knicks are all about running and average almost 108 ppg. This is a showcase game on TNT and the NBA wants nothing more than an entertaining affair. Two run and gun, high scoring teams that care little about defense. OVER is the play.

Coming of dismal loses to the Bucks, Heat, and Spurs, the Lakers made a significant line-up change and decided to start Andrew Bynum. This greatly strengthens LA as Odom is much more effective as a 6th man and Bynum as a starter. It showed as the Lakers blasted the Hornets in New Orleans. The Lakers already won earlier this year in Philly as they sleepwalked through 3 quarters and then flipped the switch against the inferior 76ers and DESTROYED them in the 4th. Don't expect a slow start this time around as the Lakers want to show their home crowd they are BACK. Look for the Lakers to come strong out of the gate and cover the 5.5 first half spread.

sounds like u r basing ur pick tonight on a line up change that was made last game and worked out for ONE game ONLY against a hornets team that got spanked by minnesota and BARELY beat a depleted Boston team. so the change is not fully tested yet. i question if that is a good enough reasoning to make such pick??

Don't sell the Hornets short, especially at home (12-4). You bring up a good point about a limited sample. That is the reason I made this a one unit pick and not multiunit.

Following a nice win in Boston, the Hornets look to string together their first two game road winning streak of the season. Thus far, the Hornets have been shaky on the road. They lost big in Minnesota on Monday and followed that by being blown out by the Lakers. But not so fast! After the Lakers game, a team meeting was called after Ariza questioned their toughness publicly when addressing the media that night. The meeting centered around the issue that they were a "soft" team. The Hornets responded beautifully with a big win in Boston. The TWolves road loss is still very fresh in their memory and they will be very aware NOT to let this happen again (lose to another bottom feeder). The Wiz struggled mightily in Indiana yesterday and have lost EVERY back to back game this season. The momentum and the mission of this road trip will be enough for the Hornets to pick up the W in Washington.
