MMA fans, don’t miss out…Bellator is starting to blow up, and is now on prime time. Get ready for a great night of free fights, this Saturday at 9pm on MTV2!!! Bellator 44 is being held in Atlantic City, at Caesar’s Resort, on May 14, 2011.
The headlining fight of Bellator 44 will be a non-championship fight in the middleweight division, featuring the Champion Hector Lombard (27-2-1 MMA, 6-0 BFC), who will be fighting Falaniko “Niko” Vitale (29-9 MMA 0-0 BFC). The other exciting match-up on the card is Michael Chandler vs Patricky Freire in a fight for $100,000, and the winner gets a shot at the Champ: Eddie Alvarez.
Middleweight Fight
Hector Lombard: 5’9, 184lb with a 71 in reachb
Hector Lombard, 33 years old, (27-2-1,14KO) is from Cuba, and was on the 2000 Olympic judo squad in Sydney, Australia. Hector defected in 2002 to Australia where he started his MMA career. Hector trains at American Top Team. Hector is a forth degree black belt in Judo, and received a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from the head-coach of the ATT, Marcus Silveira; he is also skilled in Boxing and Muay Thai.
Hector is the current Middleweight Champion of both the CFC (11-23-2007), and the BFC (1-6-2009): plus he is ranked 10th in the world among the 185 pound division. Hector has defended his title for CFC seven times successfully, and his BFC title once. Hector beat Jared Hess, (4th R, TKO), for the BFC title, on (6-19-2009), via TKO.
Hector’s only title defense was at the BFC-34, on (10- 28-2010), where he beat Alexander Shlemenko, in the fifth round, by unanimous decision.
Falaniko “Niko” Vitale : 5’10, 185lb, with a 70in reach
Falaniko “Niko” Vitale, a native of Hawaii, and a former X-1 and Super Brawl Champion, has 28 victories himself. Vitale has been competing for 11 years in a variety of organizations, such as: the UFC, Strikeforce, X-1, Icon, and SB. Vitale had an unsuccessful short stay in Strikeforce, where he had a record of 1-2, which after he then took an 18-month break from the competition.
In his return to the cage in 2010, Vitale beat Kalib Starnes (1 round submission-Ezekiel-Choke) for the X-1 middleweight championship, and then defeated Kala Hose(4R submission-Ezekiel -Choke) (7-4). Vitale’s last title defense of his X-1 Belt, was a first round KO of Dylan Clay (3:04). Vitale, after his win gave up his X-1 middleweight Belt, as he was going to join Bellator.
The line: Hector is a huge favorite at a -510 ml for this fight. Vitale is a big under-dog at +405 ml.
The Pick: Take Hector in this fight. He is superior in every area of his game and should KO Vitale in the early rounds of this fight. Parlay Hector with your other favorite fighter in this main event card. My choice to pair Hector with would be UFC vet Alexander Shlemenko at -210 ml.
Bellator Season 4 Lightweight Tournament Finals
Michael Chandler vs. Patricky Freire
Michael Chandler: 5ft 8in, 155lb. Style Wrestling
Michael Chandler (7-0MMA, 4-0 BFC), is an All-American wrestler from Missouri. Michael started his MMA career at Strikeforce, where he won two matches, and trained with Xtreme Couture. He then moved to Bellator in 2010, and he comes into the lightweight finals on a 4-fight win streak.
Michael rattled off two wins in the L.W. tournament. Early in the first round of the quarterfinals, Chandler was caught in a kneebar by Marcin Held. Chandler was able to escape that move, and won the fight, via an arm-triangle choke. Chandler went on the semifinals, where he faced the undefeated fighter, Llyod Woodward. Chandler out-boxed and out-wrestled Woodward in the fight, and beat him in unanimous decision, which earned him a spot in the finals vs Patricky Freire.
Patricky “Pitbull” Freire: 5ft’7in, 155lb, Style Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai
Patricky “Pitbull” Freire is a fighter out of Brazil, with an impressive winning record of 9-1. Freire is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and is a part of team Nogueira. The “Pitbull”, has a fierce striking game and he is very quick and powerful with his hands, with 6 KO’s to his credit. Freire joined Bellator in March, 2011, and entered the season 4 lightweight tournament.
Freire’s first fight in the quarterfinals was against Rob McCullough, (former lightweight champion of the WEC). Freire put together a brutal combination of punches knocking out McCullogh in 3 minutes and 11 seconds, in the third round. Freire moved on to the semi-finals of the tournament, where he faced two-time Bellator finalist, Toby Imada.
Freire connected with a flying knee to the head, ending the fight 2 minutes and 53 seconds into the first round. Freire’s win propelled him to the finals vs Chandler, and a shot at the $100,000 prize.
The line: The slight favorite for this fight is: Freire-115 ml, Chandler-105 ml
The fight, break down: Chandler will need to use his wrestling abilities to take this fight to the ground. On the other hand, Freire can use both his black belt in Jiu-Jitsu to take it to the ground, and his superior striking ability to defeat Chandler. Freire has a better all around arsenal of weapons to win this fight vs Chandler. Take Freire in this one!
Summary of the picks: Parlay Hector ml -510 and Shlemenko -210 ml 2x. Next fight, take Freire at -115 ml 1x. Good luck with your bets, and check out 5 dimes for the best MMA lines in the industry.Comment -

#13677ok not sure who jumps out in this 1st game with the bulls and heat. The bulls do have a big rebounding edge inside with their combo of boozer, noah, asik and gibson. The Heat have the better scorers and they both play great defense. i like the under in the 1st game 181.5 1x under hookComment -

#13685Dallas will have a rust factor but can't afford it to happen to long and the home crowd and multiply scorers should get them going QUICK ENOUGH. Oak citys 7 game exhaustion should show late in the game but there legs are young SO WHO KNOWS but their lack of two main scorers should hurt them 2half once adjustments are made by dallas . They should start fast forcing dallas to shake the rust quick and hang and pull out a small lead into half time. 2half dallas pulls away.
[B]1half dallas -3 1x
1half over 98 .5x reason behind it is that oak will want to catch the mavs early and push the pace. The thunder in two meetings had a fast break advantage of 17 to 3, 24 to 6 so that tells me despite the tired legs and the rust that this will be a fast pace and dallas will have to keep up.Comment
