One of my favorite matchups will be the one between Peachdog and johnnybaseballs
I had a hard time evaluating this one from a linemakers perspective, because both of these guys are really good, but in the end I have decided to take johnnybaseballs in the 1st half, as he is an excellent front runner, and bettors must take this into consideration when laying this one. I think that johnnybaseballs gets out to the early lead with the carryover effect working for him as he is on the back end of a back to back tournament situation. Whereas Peachdog has to get warmed up after having a long lay off. So for this one, I have created a first half, and when we get to the 2nd hlaf, if johnny has a sizeable lead, i may jump sides and take Peachdog in the 2nd half.
FIRST HALF LINE ONLY
johnnybaseballs-1 (-105) Peachdog +1 (-115)

It's cool cheesy! With you being the slight underdog in this matchup, if you get the lead, it will be a little more difficult for Dexter to get the cover. But there's only a half point differential between the two of you so I expect that it will be a squeaker and come down to the last day. I am thinking that I will take on the winner of the tournament since I am on a bye and also entertaining a match of my own right now.

Dex, I'm with you on the Pacers. I go to IU and watch the Pacers nearly every game. Playing a close game last night won't effect them. It feels like every game they play goes down to the wire so they never really take that to heart. I feel like they are one of the most under rated teams in the league this year simply because of their record. They play hard though and have put up some good games against some of the best teams in the league, at home and on the road. Besides a 20 point romp (135-115, jeez) by the Nuggets on their last road trip, the Pacers haven't lost a game by more than 7 in over a month. As you pointed out, the Spurs are on their 4th game in 5 nights and its their first game home after an east coast road trip. The Pacers are young and hungry every game. Indiana has played inspired basketball since the return of the Mike Dunleavy. He is their veteran leader and they missed him terribly in the beginning of the season. Not to mention Danny Granger is averaging over 30 ppg since his return.
They are a young team, but also a very deep team. TJ Ford can penetrate and kick. Jarrett Jack has a solid jump shot and despite what CK says, does NOT turn the ball over. Check the stats. Even Travis Diener can come in at the point and run the offense, as he is quick with the ball and can shoot the 3 ball. The return of Dunleavy can't be understated. He is big, physical, can shoot the J and pass the ball. Like I said he's their leader. Then you have Marquis Daniels who just returned from an injury who is having a career year. He will also be very fresh. Now, Tim Duncan is obviously going to get his. He always does. But you really can't hate on the Pacers big men. They really are one of the deepest teams in the league down low. Troy Murphy is one of the most underrated players in the league, averaging a double-double and shoots well from the outside for a big. His favorite play is when the Pacers push the ball, he sits back and trails, then they kick it to him for 3 from the top of the arc when the opponents big men are down low trying to stop the break. Jeff Foster is a beast on the offensive boards and is a G when it comes to 2nd chance points. Rasho's favorite shot is from 10-12 feet outside and he's shooting 52% on the year. Even Roy Hibbert is averaging 22.8 and 10.2 per 48 minutes. And those aren't against the 2nd team either. Even though he's only getting 12 minutes per game, Jim O'Brien starts him in the beginning of the 1st and 3rd quarters so he gets experience against the best players in the game so that he can develop his game. And he's been productive in those minutes.
Bottom line: The Pacers are young and deep, they hustle, and usually play to their opponent's level. Obviously they dont play defense. But will the old and tired Spurs really be able to outscore them by that much? San Antonio may win the game, but I really can't see them covering the 7.5.

Hockeytown I have to ask how you capped that Pitt/ Carolina O/6. These guys have gone over 2 times in their last 10 and 1 was a shootout. Carolina 14-10 under on the road. Pitt 13-10 unders at home. Not saying your wrong but want to know your basis on the pick.

I've had nice success lately w/small dogs ML in CFB so I thought I might toss one out that I like tonight to you guys!
Boston College ML +125 over Georgia Tech
Tech sucks plain and simple...dropped 6 of 8 overall and they lost at home to Ill/Chicago before that! BC has got beat up by GT in previous years so I think they'll be ready to take advantage tonite! Take the 2.5-3 pts if you want but you won't need'em!!

love the jazz at home to blowout the wolves, even as hot as they have been, they still can't hang in utah off a btb.
UTAH -8
indy may get blown, but they have shown that they can at least hang in the first half most of the time, and despite losing, they outscored the horny's 32-25 in the fourth Q so they should have momentum. With the spurs underrested i'm going to a classic favorite of mine and fading the spurs in the first half
IND +4 1st half
following the numbers and CK here, but the bulls are playing at least a little better and they owe a heavy helping of vengence to the hawks who have beaten them twice already. The bulls won't win in the ATL, so this may be their last chance.
CHI -4

1st pick- Chicago Bulls -4, those boys are starting to run on all cylinders, i feel sorry for the hawks today.
2nd pick the old nursing home spurs, against the young and mighty pacers, im taking the golden oldies spurs at -7 the old men are ready to put the youngster back into their place. (Blowout alert)

roller,
the First thing that jumped out at me is Pittsburgh matched up well offensively with the Canes. They have met twice and have scored 9 goals in those two games(4.5 per). Coupled with the fact that Pitt allows 3 per game on average. Carolina has been much better of late on the power play(they were actually hovering around 10 percent most of the year which is just pathetic) the pp is now near 20 percent which if you follow pucks it isnt easy to improve by 10 pecent in 20 games time. This is due to getting Maurice back behind the bench. I also love the fact that Crosby is FINALLY healthy. Lat 10-12 games he has not been himself and actually sat 2 of those games. Carolina is also playing back to back games and Ward is not expected to be in net(even if he is I like it over) the pace of the game when these two get together is usually a hectic one. Garon is also expected to be in goal tonight not Fluery. Hope this sheds a little light on why I went the way I did. I bet hockey based on my knowledge of the game and by observing it,unlike other sports I tend to ignore trends to cap hockey.

I got a nice little Teaser for everyone...vandy +5/T Tech -6.5. Get it while it's hot, cuz vandy won't be +1 for long!
Oh yeah, and I'm rolling with these bets for the night...
Duke -11.5 1st Half (ck's secret pick)
Indy/SA over 106 1st Half (if it hasn't become obvious, I LOVE overs, and love Indy hittin 'em)
Indy/SA over 208
Vandy +1 (Tenn sucks, and shouldnt be giving points to Vany)
Equal wagers on all.

1/21-
-was thinking of getting cute and going against the lakers feeling a letdown off a big win vs cleav. nah...the lakers are a streaky bunch and they own the clips at lac. (avg margin in last 4 wins of 23 ppg).
-the wizards have won their last 3 both su and ats in arco, and have won by an avg margin of 13ppg. the last game in arco was also without agent0, and the kings actually had artest for that loss. sac will coming off a btb from the rocky mountains, and are giving 3 pts to the wiz. gimme them points.
-im sure this will be a popular pick among many - but i have to side with the cavs off a su loss tomorrow in port. 7-0 ats in that spot.
-oh boy - tomorrow is the day miami comes back home after that grueling/long 7 game west coast trip - gotta love puttin your money on a team like boston.
