Thought of another reason that I liked the 2nd tie breaker originally... it encourages people to post picks early, which in turn encourages more people to play when they see others in. (not sure that matters as much now we are rolling though)


Would it make a difference if I posted the matchups earlier in the week? So there isn't a race Friday afternoon to be among the first to post picks? Most people will wait until after first practice to pick if I do that, so anyone that wants to grab an early spot should be able to do it a lot easier.

Yisman's right. I've been unreliable with it. Tend to have a few beers whilst watching and sometimes fall asleep. Or have to run off somewhere at or near the end and don't get back for hours to post it.

And if the matchups are posted early and the practices/qualifying all end up as obvious choices we'll end up with more posters wanting to make all the same picks.

I didn't ask for that to be changed. I just asked for additional tiebreakers so that everyone has a chance, even if you wind up posting after 5-8 people have already picked.

Obviously I'm not asking for Opti to cater exclusively to my schedule. The only reason it's an issue is because with the current setup, I want to be one of the first three to pick. If I had my druthers, it would be a different setup and then the time Opti posted the matchups wouldn't matter one whit.

I don't want to make it so hard that non-nascar fans feel like they don't have a chance basically.

1. combined finish positions of the 3 JGR cars
2. what lap # for first caution
3. how many laps will Nemechek actually complete

who will finish last? (iow, which start and park jagoff stops soonest)
how many cars will finish the race?
which auto company will have the most cars in the top 10?

It looks like the issue Rickie mentioned has come up this week. There is a couple of bad mismatches that everyone has chosen the same way.

Will go back to Friday posting and think of something for 2nd tiebreaker. None of the suggestions so far will give us a probable single winner. Maybe estimating the margin of victory... or having everybody select 1st,2nd,3rd instead of just winner.

I'll still leave the second tie breaker in probably... but make it a third tie breaker that will likely never need to be used.

Anyway, will do something for next week. Keep suggestions rolling if you have one.

I think that was my idea. rickie just seconded it by not understanding what I said.

The whole reason I posted in the first place was because since some picks will be obvious, it makes it very difficult if you aren't one of the first 5 or so to pick.

Changing the time would just help me be one of the first few to pick, but the later people get screwed anyway, no matter when you post the matchups.

Basically, you need a way for people to differentiate their picks. The two easiest ways would be either adding more matchups or more tiebreakers.

Yisman continues his rise toward the lead... despite death riding his own chances all year (as does Luvtogamble)

And Dew snags his 3rd race winner pick for the year to move into contention for that prize.

Average score was one of the lower races of the season. No one picked Brad Keselowski for the win, but reliable Rickie scores a 3 to extend his lead again.

BadNina bags a 5 for her(?) first weekly win of the year. LeadFootFred and I stumble to let StanleySharp jump us into a clear 3rd. And all steady at the top.

CarolinaDaze, Onenonlymush and DDT look like our only current regular players still looking for their first win now. C'mon guys... lets do this thing!

No one picked Harvick for the win this week. 3rd race in a row we have all missed. Time to pick that up too for the chase. :\
