Does anyone like the 5 in the 8th and 12 in the 9th @ Saratoga?

The fave 7 is tough in the first.If there is a shocker I think it is 5-Uncle Hugo 15-1.

Race 2 I like 6-Greg's Intuition 5-1 and 5-Minerla Water 8-1.

My mom is going to Saratoga tomorrow, 8/7 and looking for some tips from me...I don't know a thing. Anyone have some horses to take a shot on? She's not betting big or anything and likes to think she might have an edge. She printed me off all this stuff to read to try to find her a winner but I figured I'd be better off here.

Saratoga
Race 2
I don't think Star Grazing is 3-5 ML strong.I get that the dam has thrown a couple of good routers including Friend Or Foe and Jerkens is on fire in NY but making first start at 1 1/8 after a short career consisting of 4 sprints doesn't sound like a cinch to me.Looks like there is something I don't know here.Hushion good sprint to route and 4-Annie Walker 6-1 has some route experience.

Race 3
Guessing game with 2 year olds either making their first turf start or career debut ,3-Brother O'Connell 5-1 will come out running for C Clement and is my only alternative to the two faves 6-Thirst For Glory and 7-Chief Kitten.

Race 4
The 2,4,5 look pretty obvious.If there is an outsider I would think it's 3-Seton Hall 15-1 .A 1 3/4 mile race has I Wilkes written all over.

Race 5
Of the MSW droppers 8-Saratoga Valley 12-1 looks like best value.Her pace figs say she wanted no part of sprinting and will run much better routing.5-The Lady's Cruisen 5-2 and 9 Reed It And Weep 10-1 also drop from MSW.

Race 6
Not too fond of Finger Lakes shippers but 4-Golden Nugget 10-1 looks playable at the price.Otherwise you have a 9-5 fave , 2-1 second choice , and 5-2 third choice that will make a chalky ex/tri.

7-Tenacious Indeed 8-1
5-No Trespassers 15-1

Race 8
A lot of speed in here...going with a closer
2-Bluegrass Springs 20-1

Race 9
Looks like a confidence builder for 1-Ghurair 5-2 but 3-Red Rifle is very lonely on the lead so might not be any pace that the 1 needs.Interesting price is 4-Two Months Rent 15-1 going 2nd from layoff.

Expecting to see big payouts this race if I hit or not.

Key to this race is what you think of the 7/24 race three come out of including the favorite 7-Heir To Dare 8-5.It's a slight bump in class and would feel more confident trying to beat the 7 in the exacta if he didn't have a pace edge.Rudy has gotten back on track after a slow start and he has 6-Bobby Jo 4-1 going first off the claim for M Dubb who is pretty sharp when it comes to claiming horses.2-Precious Franca 6-1 looks like a hanger who runs just fast enough to beat everyone but 1 or 2.Maybe the 4 softens up the 7 just enough for the 6 and 2 to come flying but can't toss.

Think whichever W Ward sends out from his 1/1A entry 7-2 will be tough to beat.Prefer 1A-Lamontagne who has speed to run a bunch of firsters off their feet.The favorite 5-Potthast 2-1 goes 1st out for Motion who can't miss lately and looks like this one was working at Delaware with Strong Coffee who won first out at spa last week but that one was a turf route.5 might be dressed up a bit off two bullet works at DEL but that is probably what impressed Motion enough to ship him up here.Will have to see the betting and if he takes a bunch of money could play against in ex with 9-Delta Outlaw 3-1.7-Path Dependent 10-1 is the price.He has been getting OK marks in the AM and his co worker in the mornings ran 6th in what could end up being a tough field.That was on dirt though and this guys pedigree is turf so could run even better .Henning not so hot with 1st timers but very good with turf sprinters so have to think he knows one when he sees it.

Also a chalky race.If there is one price angle to try it's with 5-Politicallycorrect 10-1.Last race was slow but it was off a 232 day break.This 7f distance is where all his fastest races come and last start at the Spa in the James Marvin would likely win this.The question is can he get back to that off one start.If not it's Confrontation , Scarly Charly , and the Jacobson entry.Of those 3 I'd go with Scarly Charly - Confrontation then the entry.Don't trust Jacobson right now.

Assuming the royally bred D Wayne horse will want more ground and the rail drawn Shug horse too for that matter.Both will take some money especially the 1.225 million dollar baby.Won't be surprised if Tela somehow wins being Matz is red hot but she is by a router , out of a router .That narrows the field down considerably and eliminates some shortish prices.Leaving 2-Magnificent Margo 6-1 , 7-To Be Determined 5-2 , and 8-Shimmering Cara 6-1 as the main players.If there is a bomb to thrown in it's 5-Dariel 20-1.G Gullo was pretty bad with 1sters going 0-23 before hitting with 3 of his last 13.

I don't know what to make of this race.5-Bella Kateri 2-1 could be too good for these after an impressive middle move into hot fractions last time seen.That was followed by a layoff though so who knows if she comes back in same form.The 6-Donatienne 3-1 is really confusing.Sire has a stud fee of 5k and this one went for 250k in sale ring.She is a half to speedball Trinniberg and maybe that's why but what is confusing is that a sharp turf trainer like Motion debuts her in a turf route.9-Understanding 15-1 closed from 8th to 3rd beaten 1 1/2 lengths against a slow pace on a speed favoring charletown dirt track.Kind of sticks out as a "what is this horse doing at Saratoga".Started career on turf in a race you can toss after she broke slow and never tried.1-Chrissy Girl 10-1 has been gone for a while and could come back better.Has Castellano up and he is owning everyone in turf race riding.

With the scratch of the 7 it's going to take beating either 1-Betweenhereandcool or Lieutenant Seany O 3-1 to make exacta playable.Asmussen is one of the best 3rd off layoff trainers as most get them cranked right away these days.So I'll use the 1 with 6-Denzel 5-1 who has only tried to route twice in 20 starts.If everyone starts falling down in the stretch 3-Steve 15-1 could grind his way on by.

thx...When I try to handicap real quick I tend to fall in love with one view of the race instead of looking at different views.Usually visualizing a way for a bomb to win and not properly evaluating if the fave(s) are even beatable.

Race 1
7-Players Charm 5-2 is ripe for a 2 year old route race.Unfortunately I don't think they card any this time of year in Cali.Does get a furlong further today and maybe that's enough but really interesting when he stretches out.Not too impressed with the horses that have ran so will decide between 2 first timers 3-Better Luck 3-1 and 4-Gottalovethosecats 5-1.

2-Racing For Chasen 5-1 may have ran better than her time and speed figures say.Comes out of her 2nd start where she finished 2nd to Oh Deann who came right back and ran huge in a 2 year old starter allowance.The safe way to go would be to couple her with the 3 ,6 , and 8 but I'm going to try and beat the 3,8 in favor of 4-Beach Premier 15-1.The Dorf has the 6 and his #s are unreal debuting in maiden claimers at about 40%.The 4 is sired by Discreetly Mine who I think is going to turn into a good sire of 2 year olds.

Probably going to regret taking closers every race but like the turnback of 3-Loan Savant 5-1.Sire Spring At Last has produced a few good sprinters so want to see what this guy can do .Against the fave 8 as he will be bet off his dirt form.1-Seeking Shamrock 6-1 switches barns to R Ellis who has got it going this meet and pace figs say horse is capable of better.Same goes for M Glatt and it helps Bejarano gets on board 7-Gracie Ragazza 5-1.

Like the 2 price horses on the outside 9-Always A Chance 15-1 and 8-Lady's Plan 12-1.Both drop in class and have favorable pace figs that point to an improvement this race.Can't decide among 1-Silver Hustler 6-1 or 3-Flashy Dame 5-1.Both also drop.

Tomorrows 2nd race at Spa is almost identical situation to today's 10th.

Pletcher has a huge favorite like he did with Murmure today and Terranova has a mid priced (8-1) horse going turf to dirt/MSW to MDCL like the 7 that won at 5-1
