the pegasus (beyers) was the fastest 2 turn race for 3yo's this year and the pace was about 4 lengths faster than par.. so maximum security as far as I'm concerned ran his best race last out which of course was his only loss.. baffert's horse (#5 mucho gusto) hasn't run anywhere near that fast (pace and final) and will take a lot of money.. far as the top two I could see mine sitting off a fast pace with #7 max security in addition to #2 and #4.. rail is very good at monmouth and this will be to his advantage

usually these horses are converted thoroughbreds but this one actually bred for the jumps.. 6yo who started his career this year and making his 5th start..stretches out from 1 1/2 miles on the turf.. intrigued but just for a couple of bucks

extremely expensive for the pedigree and its sprint oriented.. maclean's music is one of the elite debut sires.. ran evenly mid pack in a race that by brisnet figures was about 6-7 lengths faster than par

like the above another very expensive for the pedigree specs.. I find this interesting (and mention it a lot) because to me that means horse must be special for other reasons (physicality).. find it interesting they'd try a turf route first time out especially with forest wildcat as the dam sire (pure speed).. last 14 days jock/trainer combo 7-3-1-2

lightly raced 4yo colt ($550k auction) taking a shot at the turf first time.. showed significant talent on dirt and with his pedigree should handle surface switch.. maybe needed 2 back off the long layoff and got caught behind a ridiculously slow pace in a grade 1 last out.. come's off regular fair hill works and bottom line enough there for me to be interested at a price

homebred by uncle mo out of a stakes winning dam who ran 2nd in her debut at saratoga.. negatives motion a poor first out trainer
and despite dam's success has not been very productive broodmare.. like the fact they still have faith by breeding to an elite sire.. feel sometimes these trainers who are not big on winning debuts overall might make the exception with a 2yo at saratoga when they have the right material to work with

saratoga especially tough.. if on avg I like 1.7 horses /race at normal tracks at saratoga it comes in around 2.8/ race at least for me.. tough psychologically when one of your others wins and I will never say that in here when it does happen..make a final choice and that's that..a lot more luck involved here and I understand and accept that.. rewarding when it works frustrating when it doesn't..i know some might say do pick 3's,4's and 5's but that's not what I do in here.. I'm not dettered by all this and hopefully they'll be some good hits by meets end

will occasionally post 2 but I still like narrowing it down to 1.. I like having the winner with 1 pick and when choice 2 or sometimes 3 wins I lose.. i just accept that

4 career races.. trainer doesn't try first out.. huge improvement 2nd out.. 3rd race ridiculously slow pace and was returning off a 5 month layoff.. last maiden breaker at mth at 2 turns on the turf (all of these races were).. what puts me over the top with this one is the elite pedigree, how fast the pace was in her last and that they have the confidence to try the big girls up here
