Atl/Phi over 1.5 1st period really like this one.

Pittsburgh ML- I think Pitt is the better team but I may have to lay off this one. Ottawa is on a 7 game win streak and is 3-3 in the last 6 at Pitt.

Cal/Phx under 1.5 1st

SJ/Chi over 5.5- Over is 5-3 in the last 3 seasons and 2-1 this season. SJ is without their best defenseman (Boyle) and these teams just have so much firepower.

I would be careful with the under 1.5 first period bet for CGY/PHX. Phoenix is one of the most likely teams to go under in the NHL while calgary is middling. Considering the low scoring of calgary lately I'd be really hesitant on that one.

Penguins feed off the bottom fish, they are terrible versus top 10 teams.
They are 2-11 playing top 10......WORST in the NHL
Although Ottawa is not in the top 10 ...........I think you will all agree they are playing like it of late.

PHI (-155) (1st) vs ATL Pinnacle $155 to win $100
Philly is one of the better first period teams in the league and the Thrashers are one of the worst. The Flyers have a +13 goal differential in the 1st while the Thrashers have a -16 in the first. The Flyers have won 9 of 10 vs the Thrashers and should continue their dominance tonight at home vs ATL. I like the 1st period bet rather than the game as you save 30-40 cents of juice this way.

OTT vs PIT Over 1.5 (1st) (-103) Pinnacle $103 to win $100
The first period over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings including 3-0 this season. The Pens are the 3rd highest scoring 1st period team and the Sens are 14th. The Sens are 9th in 1st period goals allowed and the Pens are 10th. This should be a competitive, hard fought 1st period so I expect to see at least a couple goals in the first.

my book doesnt offer quarter wins but it has first goal scorer for the flyers game. It gets better odds than the SU, is it worth the risk DG?

I'm with you for the Flyers ML and Ott/Pitts Over in the 1st.
Atlanta has only won the 1st on the road once in thier past 17, 1-7-9. Flyers only one loss in the past 12, 6-1-5.
Before two 1st period wins in Boston, the Sens only had one W on the road. Thier past record in the 1st scares me away enough not to grab the Sen ML. But I do see the Sens flying at the start of this one, but may not be enough for a W. Pitts is a big Over team at home, 16-9. So over I think is a safer play and good value at -103.

Personally I also non the Avs ML 1st pper and SJ ML 1st period.
Avs have been killer at home of late in the 1st with a 8-1-1 record in the past 10 at home. Minny is 1-5-3 in thier past nine. This is the Avs 4 straight home game but spread out over 11 days. Three games off didn't hurt them beating Nas 1-0, I don't feel the 3 day rest will hurt them tonight either.
SJ hasn't lost back-to-back 1st period since they stumbled out of the gate in October. While SJ is one of the best home 1st period teams, they are facing the #1 road 1st period team in the Black Hawks. I'll use the stat of how teams in 6+ road trips fare 1st period in games 6+ again. They are 2-9-6. The downside is that before this week, the stat was 0-9-5, before SJ lost to BUff and Chi beat Edm. I'll take the record for the year compared the week for that stat and find value in a -113 ML on SJ.

Note: I did write about the Sens/Pens O before it actually went Over.

He must have thought I had PHI in the game, which apparently I should have done PHI up 3-1 now. 1st period side plays seem to suck. Looking at a few more plays in the STL/EDM game and possibly the CHI/SJ.
