Tuesday Oct.17
Good slate tonight with 11 games scheduled. Some intriguing matchups at this early point in the season.
A couple comments with each pick - this mostly for myself to keep track of my thought process.
UNDER 5.5 -130 VANC@OTT // 1.3 units to win 1
Anders Nilsson appears to be getting the start in net for Vancouver. Anderson for Ottawa and we know what he can do...Nilsson is a solid good backup. Ottawa with some offense the past two games, but is not their true style, and facing offensively-challenged Vancouver, I expect that offense to stall tonight, and therefore would not play the home favorite puckline in this contest.
UNDER 5.5 +100 TB@NJ // 1 unit to win 1
Peter Budaj appears to be starting for Tampa tonight vs. Cory Schneider for NJ. Tampa being on a back-to-back in which they won in Detroit by 3-2 score, should be defensive-minded tonight to keep the game close. Meantime New Jersey has 5-games under their belt in this young season and 3 have gone Over, with the other two games landing on 5 total. So a contrarian play from what might be expected, Budaj is a solid backup goalie and generally Schneider is tough.
NASHVILLE -175 // 1.75 units to win 1
UNDER 5.5 -115 COL@NSH // 1.15 units to win 1
OVERTIME YES +315 COL@NSH // 1 unit to win 3.15
Any rational person would look at these three picks for this game and say that's a strange choice. Basically looking to hit a bulls-eye here. Nashville should beat Colorado hands down, but Varlamov has been in great form net-minding for the Avs. I think this game might surprise some and get to Overtime, heck Colorado might even win. Thinking 2-or-3 of these picks will hit on this game, capturing a profit of some amount.
UNDER 5 +110 MTL@SJ // 1 unit to win 1.10
OVERTIME YES +295 MTL@SJ // 1 unit to win 2.95
San Jose off to a disappointing start, same for Montreal but what do we ever know what to expect from the Habs? Just smells like a low-scoring, overtime game. Let's see!
